    Generally speaking:

    Acc > str = vit > det > or = ss > parry = crit

    Accuracy til cap, of course.
Vit is sort of weird- it basically has a soft cap for usefulness. That is, because of the fact that it only awards HP and absolutely no other benefits, every 15(Or 18 with Defiance up) hp that you don't fall under is going by totally unused- it's worthless. That 1500 HP you didn't fall under that last run could have been 100 extra str, which, though small, would have at least had some effect on your effectiveness as a whole as opposed to giving your healer a windfall that they obviously didn't need. Mind you, you always -should- have at least a little bit of a windfall, but sacrificing all your str for a big hp number is, generally, useless. Moving on.

Det far and away is the most useful secondary stat. 9(I think? 9 or 14..... Don't remember offhand) det is a flat 1 bonus damage on every action you do. This adds up pretty quickly. Skill Speed is sort of unique, like vit, in that it has something of a soft cap. It is possible to have enough ss to reliably get 9 attacks into the duration of a berserk as opposed to just 8. For me, this is 449(2.39 global), but it would vary based on your system. Parry and crit both are sort of useless. Again, I don't remember the exact numbers, but on a Paladin (which take benefit from parry for both block AND actual parries) the difference in damage taken with a full parry BiS set and a full det/crit set was something like 6% net damage reduced over the entire course of T7(160000 damage taken with parry set, 170000 without), which would be a big deal, but that is something like 100 parry and the damage reduced is over time- which between overheals and the fact that damage over time generally is entirely irrelevant, on top of the fact that we can't block, makes parry more or less irrelevant. Crit is similar in that it is dubiously useful at all, but it does have the residual benefit of maybe getting lucky with IB/Path crits. (Mind, the odds of them not just being overheal too makes the prospect mostly bunk anyway.)

......Although, all that being said, ilevel is king and everything else is just theorycraft that honestly doesn't matter a whole lot. So, yes, just replace what's lower item level.

I agree, I'd go the strength route and purchase the Weathered Conquerer first with your soldiery tomes if you are able to get your hands on an Unidentified Allagan Tombstone. Otherwise, go with the left side pieces (ie head, body, hands, legs, feet) where you need it. These pieces give you both VIT and STR where the accessories do not.

This is the set I use in Turn 6, 7, and 9 at the moment.

I wouldn't save much the the Conqueror if you're not already in i90 and know you've got a pretty good shot at doing turn7, IMO.
As a new tank he's probably not there and is better off adding ilevel to the left hand side.

Also, sure determination, per point, is better than Crit. But you usually get quite a lot more points of crit on gear. That usually makes a crit build do better damage. I think the fact War has a couple crit-boosters in wrath and internal release makes for some synergy too.

ACC till cap-> STR/VIT(till certain hp threshold as a war who solo tanks turn9 anything over 9k hp is a waste) -> Det-> Crit-> SS -> Parry

This is my gear almost full BiS just missing T9 axe, 1 sands, and 1 more Slaying accessory. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/1153899/
