Curtana Novus - Suggestions?.

Hi, guys. I just want to gather some feedback. I've been thinking about the stat allocation for the Curtana (Not the Holy Shield), but I didn't decide what upgrades will be the best for an end-game setting.

I'm between: Accuracy // Parry // Determination.

-Accuracy is a must for me. I'll keep it up to the current cap.

-Parry: Even if it's really useful, since it blocks like 24% of damage, the weapon on its Animus state gives +20. I have now 486 with my current gear. I don't know if I can sacrifice there 20 or increase the stat even further. Honestly, I block more often than I parry. This stat is a mistery for me, since as far as I know, there's no cap for it.

-Determination: Novus will allow me to have up to +22 on Determination. The stat itself is a lesser improvement to my overall damage, which affects my emnity generation, but it improves the heal I receive as well, helping the healers, making their job a bit easier.

Considering that I can cap acc + det to their max capability (according to the Novus scroll), I was thinking I could replace parry and compensate with the rest of the BiS setting for Paladin. Opinions, thoughts?

I've been able to get my acc to 550 without using any of the stat allocation for Novus. So acc isn't too big of a deal. Nice to have, but no big deal.

Parry/Det. Hell, you might even add in extra Vit if you feel like it.

It does not do that at all. It helps heals that you have cast, not others.

Honestly it's up to you how you want it. Personally I'll go with ACC/DET. The weathered armor made me lose ACC when I switched from valor. So I'll keep it there. Determination would make me have a bit more damage. You can put crit or skill speed or parry. It's basically how you run this game anyways. If you do coil then consider that factor, if not, then just go with what makes you feel happy. There isn't really right or wrong.

It's a tough call for PLD since every stat has it's use depending on your content progression speed.

If you are under geared for content you'll want Acc and parry. (Think first few t9 groups). If you are over geared you'll want DET CRIT SS.

Acc is always a factor and a safe novus stat but again once you are over geared it won't have any use.

I'm up in the air myself as to which way to go.

Something to keep in mind for the DPS stats is that Det is the best of the 3 on a point per point basis. With most gear you get less Det than you would Crit or SS which sort of balances this out. However, on the novus, I don't know if you'll suffer the stat penalty for Det that comes with most gear. Since you can only put 33 (or whatever) Det on the novus, I'm thinking that you get the full +1 Det per meld and no stat penalty.

Hi, guys and thanks for your answers!

I'm aiming for the BiS gear for paladin, and it requires to have acc in the weapon. I'll be using High Allagan Kite Shield, so I don't bother with that yet. I'll upgrade it casually before the next stage of the Zodiacal Questline. As for the weapon, I think I can sacrifice that parry and replace it with Det. The parry loss is not that big either. But now that you mention it, Crit is tempting as well. A crit RoH combo just makes all the work, but Det is less RNG dependant, it's like an overall damage increasment. Argh... ;_;

For the record, I'm in T8 atm, no issues with aggro/gear there. My current acc is at 226, I think that's more than enough for T9.

Tanks need 520 accuracy for T9, so gear based on the first. As for Novus, I'd recommend going all in 31 Det and splitting the remaining 44 between Critical and Accuracy, leaning more toward Critical and taking as little acc as you can.
