[Remote Play] - Use Second Screen Option As Mirror/Map

I have a Vita. I use it to play XIV fairly regularly but there's one small problem: My hands start to cramp at any extended combat due to it's small size.

I've tried using a PS4 controller on top of that, but when I do, it disconnects the Vita. This means that I can't use the Vita in Remote Play as a second screen (think Wii U's gamepad) while still using something comfortable.

The second screen option stays connected when a PS4 controller is used under my profile, but it shows nothing on the second-screen mode despite what Sony's FAQ tries to show on the matter (yes, I know it's marketing but still..)

Please consider using the second screen option as a mirror or something? Or let multiple "profiles" (such as guest) jump in as a controller for the game while I'm playing it?

How do you hold both the Vita while using an additional controller to play the game? Wouldn't you have to place the Vita down flat or prop it up like a tiny monitor while holding the controller? When you use remote play where do you play it?

I can see how your hands would start cramping up with all the back-touch pad tapping. I have a Vita, but no PS4 so I can't say I've attempted playing it via Remote Play. Can't say I would really want too either. It makes a lousy PS3/4 controller, and I'd rather use an actual game-pad than the Vita. But I see using a game-pad with my Vita is like using a compact keyboard with my iPhone.

This is just my opinion though. If you seriously think you'd use a game-pad with the Vita than I'm all for it.

Usually in another room away from my PS4, PS3, or PC. I've got solutions for propping stuff up (and really I don't need it that close to be able to grind Atma/Alexandrite, etc)

It's not so much the back panel that's the problem. It's more the reliance on shoulder buttons to cast anything which means you have to not only be holding the Vita, but you have to squeeze it top to bottom often and repeatedly. Mixed mode for the X-hotbar helps, but it can still hurt over time.

Sometimes I just don't have the option of playing in front of my PS4's monitor. That said, if I'm within range of the PS4, I should be able to use a standard controller in junction with video being pushed to the Vita.

I have yet to play on my Vita, but I can definitely see the appeal in having a second screen nearby. Having a map in the palm of your hand, or even an expanded chat box could prove to be very useful.
