One of those games where you finish it and then throwing the game out of window with saying finally done, NEVER AGAIN... cant see it any more!If you guys are upset by this, then don't partake in it! The very small number of people who do actually do it, will show to SE that it's not as successful as they'd hope and they'll change it. Complaining on the forums about how its implemented likely won't change a thing, as players complain about everything all the time anyway
I'm riding high off complaining, since beta, about self repairs being crap, and finally seeing developers respond to that. Also the turn in UI for expert supply missions. If you guys are upset by this, then don't partake in it! So... They'll fix Sightseeing in about a year I guess...
Also, I'm not partaking in it. Getting the best minion just isn't worth it. This could have been a nice little thing to do in between events or while queuing. Instead it's just garbage.

Yeah well, if I want an Apkallu minion, how can I not partake? /sigh.

I wouldn't have minded it being either weather or time of day, but both at once is annoying enough to make me not want to bother. I'd have much preferred it if instead there was only one condition, but you don't get the vista message unless that condition is met, and there had been a lot more locations. Jumping around and getting places I shouldn't be is one of my favorite things to do in MMOs.

Actually, you do get the vista message regardless of time/weather.
So you can locate the spots anytime, and then you can try to figure out the right time and weather (or wait for it if you already know)
I've found much more spots than are registered in my sightseeing log.
The enjoyment I've gotten out of this game has definitely been on a bell curve, and despite all the quality of life changes that I'm happy about, this quest is pretty much what's brought my enjoyment back down to an all time low and made me question whether this is where I want to spend time that's supposed to go towards things that make me happy vs. my job for example where I'm alternatively miserable, stressed out or bored. The relic animus/novus and sightseeing quests remind me of this obviously hypothetical situation (but in my mind it's the perfect analogy):
A new restaurant is slated to open in town by a world famous chef; tables are booked months in advance. After much anticipation, the eager diners show up on opening night to find a menu listing a variety of intriguing dishes suitable for a broad range of tastes. After an initial wait spent nibbling on various appetizers and such, the main courses arrive and the diners find that mixed into every entree is an entire rainbow of brightly colored shards of broken glass. "But, I didn't order broken glass in my coq au vin!" exclaims one diner. Similar sentiments echo from various tables. The waiters have a standard reply- "The chef put those there to ensure you properly enjoyed this meal at the pace he intended. If you very diligently remove the shards of glass from each bite with the magnifying glass and tweezers, which you'll note have been provided free of charge, you should be able to make it last all the way up through when dessert arrives." Reactions are varied. Some diners find that removing the glass from each bite is taking so long that they remain just as hungry as when they arrived, and ask if they can have an entree that doesn't have broken glass in it. "What do you expect, this isn't a fast food restaurant, GTFO!" exclaims one lady, who had already planned to remain at her table for the next 36 hours. "Check, please!" is heard from increasing number of tables as more and more people realize they're not engaging in the activity they desired.
What the animus/novus/sightseeing quests have in common for me is, like the story above, they all had one unnecessary component that completely ruined them and made me give up. By the way, I do love solving puzzles and riddles, but seeing half a dozen lvl 50 players standing/sitting in one spot obviously doing nothing but waiting kind of defeats the whole purpose, don't you think? As I stood in one such group last night while a healer spammed Withdraw from duty roulette resetting the queue every time, I finally had enough of both and decided- ENOUGH SENSELESS WAITING, I could be doing other things right now- and shut off the game.

lol, nice analogy
I imagine the one lady also screams "You guys know this is optional, right? You could always order another dish or go eat at another retaurant!"
Chiming in to agree with what everybody else has said: What were the developers thinking? Why on earth would you take a fun little diversion like the sightseeing log and turn it into such an awful RNG-gated grindy slog? I, like many others, have been waiting for 8AM rain in East Thanalan for literally 48 real-world hours with nothing to show for it. We can't progress without it, and #18 is the only one out of the first 20 that we don't have.
Judging from the rest of the internet and the fact that weather is the same on each shard, not a single person in the entire world has been able to complete #18 yet.
This isn't fun. It's insulting.

I can think of a few ways it could be better shifted to the modern audience without tarnishing the spirit of it:
-Make the vistas that don't require a specific post a little bigger.
-Make the riddles more clear about what time you need to show up/don't require a specific time for the ones that don't seem to have any in the riddle.
-Remove the weather requirement for interiors where it won't be seen.
-Don't line up the weather changes with time requirements.
Other than that, the only issue I ran into was an instance where /pray didn't work when I typed it, but worked fine when I selected it from the menu.
Also, as an asside, this thing about "jump puzzles" (my people call it "platforming") doesn't excite me. This game has terrible twitch jump controls.
