T1-2 materia are cheap, T3 are usually fair price, and T4 is only used for stats you're pushing over 75% cap. Considering only 25% of the materia you need is actually legitimately expensive, you've got 56-some Alexandrite's worth of time to farm for them. It's a lot of money if you're not spiritbinding yourself, but if you are, I'm sure you'd make plenty of gil to buy what you didn't bind yourself. Or craft. Or do dailies. You don't need the game to hold your hand with materia if you've come this far farming mythology and atma.

im still thinking about what i should put on my thyrus novus.

max pie/det + rest in ss seems like the best bang for your alexandrite and even trumps the yagrush.

but what got me thinking is that both the allagan cane and high allagan crook have max ss + rest in pie. is ss in coil really that important? i didnt beat t5 before the nerf and only dabbled a bit in t6 so i dont really know if its worth it or if it only plays out if you have a lot of high allagan gear.

i would really like to know what other people think of this. im infusing very slowly so i still have a lot of time to decide.

I'm going with Piety and Determination for my Thyrus Novus. Rest will probably go in to Spell Speed.

I actually finished my omnilex novus already. http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest.../blog/1319292/

I went with crit and accuracy. The accuracy is because I spend a large amount of time in second coil adding damage, and while determination increases both your healing and your damage, accuracy is easily the largest damage increase stat you can get... And my heals were powerful enough anyway.

Most importantly to me is that it realistically allowed me to hit the accuracy cap with a minimal amount of melded gear, which as a healer adding damage is important, since it's frequent where I only have a couple GCDs to spare, and being able to rely on all my spells hitting during that time is very good.

Eventually I'll get another weapon anyway, but my relic will forever provide me with something to swap to with a lot of extra accuracy in case I ever do content for which it's 100% vital as opposed to just a damage increase to have no chance to miss.

Skills that suffer the accuracy are Energy Drain, Miasma, Ruin. I don't find myself using them much tho' during serious raid (t9 for example), I only give a chance to miasma and aero from crossclass skill. But by having the high allagan being piety+critical I understand that you want a different relic weapon for different purposes.

I got way more then the materia I need (25Det/25PIE/25SpS) by spiritbonding and I didn't even cleared my last book so you don't have to buy them all. Throw in one or two convertible gear with the stats you want and you're good for. If you want to do it even faster use spiritbonding potion you get for seals at the GC and ask your FC to use the Spiritbond buff. You can eventi sell those you don't need or transmute them

I have 2 books to go and am starting to wonder what stats to put for Thyrus. I'm thinking Determination and Piety, maybe spell speed with what's left over. Might go test my casting time on a dummy to see if I want extra spell speed. I do like critical cures but not sure.......

I recommend that those still working on their Animus Books should Spiritbond while farming myth, or whatnot. So you don't end up buying most of the materia for your scroll. If you must, at least SB the Turqoise Accessories so you get more IIIs and IVs which are more expensive than Is and IIs.
