How are you handling your Novus upgrade?

Going for Crit/SS on my Scholar. I'm betting all my chips on spell speed eventually getting a boost in an upcoming patch, making a spell speed build more valid, and quite a bit of i100 equips have SS on it too.

40 spell speed Thyrus.
With all i110 other peices, and 3 star food = 470 ACC (which might just be the cap for t9)

15+ t9 kills and no 115 whm staff... yay...

So I'm almost done with my novus and I'm sitting at 39 crit and 25 det. I've gotten this far mainly through spirit bonding. Now I'm stuck as to what to do next. I currently have 2.3 mil gil and on my server that'd allow me to buy enough materias to either max crit and get 3 more det materias or max det and get 2 more crit materias. All of this is assuming of course that i don't fail any melds. My third option is to save my cash and just piety materias for the rest. Is an extra 5 crit and 6 det worth emptying my coffers for?

Depends. If SCH, crit it. If WHM, go piety.

As a WHM, with both hands. As a SCH, with just one.

This is what I wanna do, but capping DET is going to be massively expensive!

It was very spendy, a friend ended up helping me out when he quit the game. That is the only way I was able to cap Det, lol. Now working on my SCH novus I know I will be going broke capping Crit and Det. >___>

Kinda still learning about whm a bit here but would 31 DET 44 Crit be good for Thyrus Novus? Or 31 DET 22 PIE 22 Crit? Or 31 DET 33 PIE 11 ACC?

Just finished my scholar Book
I max'd out crit 44 - Det 24 - peity 7 (due to raging)

Maxing out Crit and Det was my plan, I achieved the crit with minimum failure, only a couple. But that Det tho, 80% chance and I failed 5 times in a row! I could accept that if it said 60% chance of fail. So I put piety on it due to the lack of funds (I lost millions because of Det) But its done!

However I do not understand why Pie seems to be the "3rd" go to stat, or acc which I do not have a problem with. Why are pie/acc picked over mind? Can anyone explain?

MND is a main stat, you can't change it. If you are SCH, Pie is almost worthless due to your almost unending MP supply. Really only WHM need to worry about Pie since they are the only job in the game with MP issues.

No healer should put in any ACC unless you're making a for-fun, DPS/Healer hybrid build.
