I decided against that, as the price-per-point isn't worth it.

Instead I went
Piety +33
Determination +22
Spell Speed +20

Since no other job really needs piety materia, it's dirt cheap to max. Not maxing DET I saved something like 3-4 million gil. It's not like you're going to notice the difference between 30 Det and 20 Det.

It was very spendy, a friend ended up helping me out when he quit the game. That is the only way I was able to cap Det, lol. Now working on my SCH novus I know I will be going broke capping Crit and Det. >___>

I'm almost done my SCH novus. I wanted my main stat but without spending millions of gil. I don't have the time to farm that type of money anymore lol.

Going for Crit/SS on my Scholar. I'm betting all my chips on spell speed eventually getting a boost in an upcoming patch, making a spell speed build more valid, and quite a bit of i100 equips have SS on it too.

With all i110 other peices, and 3 star food = 470 ACC (which might just be the cap for t9)

So I'm almost done with my novus and I'm sitting at 39 crit and 25 det. I've gotten this far mainly through spirit bonding. Now I'm stuck as to what to do next. I currently have 2.3 mil gil and on my server that'd allow me to buy enough materias to either max crit and get 3 more det materias or max det and get 2 more crit materias. All of this is assuming of course that i don't fail any melds. My third option is to save my cash and just piety materias for the rest. Is an extra 5 crit and 6 det worth emptying my coffers for?

Depends. If SCH, crit it. If WHM, go piety.
