Any way to disable this new smart un-away system?

I might've looked through it but I've been searching for a while now and can't seem to find a way to disable the un-away system. Has anyone else found a way?

Frequently, I'll leave the game running all day, but a lot of that time I won't actually be paying much attention to it. For example, I might be waiting for specific things in game like a time of day for gathering points or a type of weather for fishing or just waiting for retainers to get back. During that time, I'll usually set my status as /afk and keep the window minimised until I next need to check on it.

With the new system however, if I move my mouse (such as to minimise the window or to bring up another on top of it) after setting /afk, the /afk status is disabled because it thinks I'm not /afk anymore.

Has anyone been able to find a way to stay /afk and still be able to move the mouse? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

System settings (configuration) at the bottom most tab on the left (the ...) called "other settings". Auto-afk. Change it to "off".

That sounds like the way to stop the smart away system, I'm referring to the smart UN-away system. As in, it saying I'm not AFK when I just told it I am because I moved the mouse after saying it.

Right. Even if it's not the active window. I thought for a moment that I'd solved the problem by alt-tabbing out of the window and then back into the window and AFK status stayed enabled. I then alt-tabbed to the other window again and moved the mouse and the FFXIV window recognised the movement and I was instantly not in AFK mode anymore.

Just tested, seems you have about five seconds or so to change the game's focus before it'll switch you back from being away.
Additionally, changing the auto-away to off does nothing to keep it from auto-"backing" you.

Odd, didn't have the same experience. Alt-tabbed, stayed away even if I moved the mouse over the game window.

There is no way to disable this, but you can set the auto-afk to 5 mins all the way to 30 mins before activating the auto away. (or you can turn off the auto afk completely)

The only other thing you could do is just put yourself as 'Busy', but then you wont be able to get any /tells.

You could use /busy instead of /away, but that is not solving the problem itself i guess.

The new auto-afk settings is set that if you enter the auto-afk mode, any action (like moving your mouse) will bring you out of auto-afk instantly. At least that was how I inferred it to be from the patch notes.

Except the new settings are also effecting setting afk manually via /away or /afk.

Until now there have been mainly two means of progression: the first being defeating powerful enemies in end-game content to obtain high-item-level equipment, and the second being collecting Allagan tomestones to purchase gear. The Zodiac Weapons do not have the restrictions of these two methods, but are designed to take a long time to complete.
Current Tome Requirements for Zodiac Weapons:
    225+900+13500+1500= 16125
Additionally: Post limits are, flat-out, completely idiotic. 1k char limit's stupid to begin with but 20 posts a day? Seriously? What the hell SE?
