#003 "In a dank cavern that's never known the sun, the patter of the rain me only companion, I dropped to one knee and said me farewells to me ill-fated mates. They sing no songs for fisherman, but the sea swallows us all the same." Such were the old mariner's words and I would see as he saw.

Hurray for back-to-back showers in Eastern Thanalan over two time periods! Must really be rare to see normal rain indeed. All of us are just playing the waiting game, right? But it's been confirmed it's not rain at 12am-8am?

I met someone on my server who confirmed that they were present with Rain from 12am to 8am and they and their FC mates had tried every emote, standing and sitting, every hour through that period.
But that *is* second-hand experience, so personally, if it happens, I'll verify it myself.
Also, I've not seen Rain in the zone since patch, just showers.
Also, weather is the same across all servers and therefore not randomly generated - there must be a table out there that weather generates from and I have a sneaking feeling that the content has been 'gated' weekly, or maybe two-daily (like Odin and Behe) to slow down progression. I have a feeling the pattern will repeat for each 20...
If it's anything like 1.0, there is a set pattern or patterns that just cycle over and over. At 72 minutes for each Eorzea day, it can take quite a long time for a specific weather to cycle around. Also, weather is the same across all servers and therefore not randomly generated - there must be a table out there that weather generates from and I have a sneaking feeling that the content has been 'gated' weekly, or maybe two-daily (like Odin and Behe) to slow down progression. After compiling a list of vistas by time for myself, I noticed that, while Dawn (5am to 8am), Morning (8am to 12pm) and Night (6pm? to 5am) have 5 confirmed sights logged, Afternoon (12pm to 5?pm) has only 4 confirmed sights logged. This makes me believe that the infamous 18 is 12pm to 5pm in the Rain.
Weather change times:
4pm - Will determine if 1 hour! (4pm to 5pm) of Afternoon and half of Night (6pm to 12am) will be viable.
12am - Will determine if half of Night (12am to 5am) and all of Dawn (5am to 8am) will be viable.
8am - Will determine if all Morning (8am to 12pm) and most of Afternoon (12pm to 4pm) will be viable.

Assuming #018 isn't unusual, it's actually better than this. The 12 a.m. weather block runs until just after 8 am, so you can eliminate the Nighttime, Dawn, Morning, and Daytime time slots with it. Of the observed times so far, that only leaves Afternoon. There is probably also a Dusk time slot, but it hasn't been observed yet. Nighttime may also be divided in half like Daytime is, but, again, this hasn't been observed.
In any case, this leaves us with a 12 hour window. If we are lucky and rain occurs during the 4 p.m.-12 a.m. block, it would cover every possible remaining time slot. If we get rain in the 8 a.m.-4 p.m. block it will only cover Afternoon, but not any of the unobserved theoretical time slots.

I am under the impression that 018 is in the evening, possibly after 4 p.m. The clue says something about receiving succor after a long journey and usually when on a long journey, one would stop for the night. I will wait for rain to see if it works. Fingers crossed.

#005 "When the skies turn grey and spirits sag, I climb high and look upon roads blazed long ago. I turn my thoughts to the hardships of my forebears till mine own worries drift away, and I find strength to carry on." Such were the sentry's words and I would see as she saw.

Specifics: Jump up on to the fence next to the gateway on its south side. There's a tiny spot at the end of the fence; it may take a bit of wiggling to activate.
Just confirming that it is: Correct time | Overcast weather | /lookout

Just a quick word of advice-
I went gung ho on this and got all the spots figured out (except 018...) rather fast. My boyfriend was a bit behind me, so I had him test something. I had him go to a vista on the correct time and weather, but had him spam-click the emotes - including the correct emote -to see if it would pick up the correct emote and proc. It did not. It didn't even respond when he began typing the correct emote. He had to leave the vista, go back to it, then perform the correct emote to proc it.
So, just a heads up.
