You would take det over parry as a tank? why- mitigation means less to cure, easier to react in a timely manner for heals, cds imo.So do DET/Piety really give a whole stat point and only use up 1/75 of the sphere scroll capacity?
If that's the case, it seems like any class that wants one of those two stats should stick them on the relic since they're usually more valuable than other stats on a point per point basis, but don't suffer from the weighting penalty that's usually applied when those stats are on other pieces of gear.
I'm likely going for det+pie+spell speed for my Thyrus Novus.
That way I don't need to use any Materia IV for any stats.
It's 100% true that we won't know for sure until someone gets there. However, we know that any i110 weapon with Det or Piety does not have a full 75 points of secondary stats on it. Thus, I think that we'll end up having lower numbers of Det and Piety at the moment of the upgrade despite melding 75 total materia on the scroll. 31 Det infusions will translate to 22 Det on the weapon, and 33 Piety infusions will translate to 24 or 25. At least, that's what I think. It'd be unbalanced if these two stats actually circumvented the 75 point cap we've been presented with, and it would also be unfair if people had to infuse fewer materia based on what stat(s) they chose. So do DET/Piety really give a whole stat point and only use up 1/75 of the sphere scroll capacity?

This theory, of course, brings up a question: If you cap both Det and Piety on a scroll, don't they add up to less than 75? Is it actually impossible to just have these two stats on a weapon?
Is there a point to putting ACC for tanks? I mean your going to be able to get ACC cap pretty easily with coil gear. I thought maybe Crit, Det, or parry would be better stats overall. On War I'm looking at possibily doing det/crit. Edit: If you don't care about coil, your not going to miss anything else in this game with just novus and ilvl100 soldiery gear.

I think you need to use all 75 to complete it, no?
Since the scroll is not counted as fully infused until you have a total of 75 on it, if you cap det and pie, you must add at least a third stat.
Parry has been proven over and over to be an extremely marginal mitigation increase for paladins due to the way block takes precedence. I can see it being useful for warrior but paladins stacking parry is a waste.
Where the horsebirds at?!
I'm talking in a general sense, IF you value Det or Piety, it seems like a steal to get it at a better ratio than you normally would.
For me, personally I was planning Parry/Acc on my bravura. However, I may get cheap and not cap parry if I don't feel like buying 11+ battledance IV. In which case I'd probably put the rest in det.
This is how I thought it would work. However, if that were the case, I would expect Det or Piety to cost 44 points to max, and the result would be the weighted max value. However, since Det/Piety have lower caps already built into the scroll sphere, it makes me think you do actually get those full stats without penalty. It's 100% true that we won't know for sure until someone gets there. I was under the impression you can hand in the sphere scroll whenever, but if you turn it in without all 75 melds, you end up with a gimped Novus that doesn't get all the secondary stats. So, you *could* do it, you're just gimping yourself unnecessarily, however.
