Novus weapon upgrade system findings

On a side note, I really wish Yoshi P and the Combat Team made Stats worth more and be more tweakable. For example, for Tanks, I find it fascinating that in *theory* you could have multiple stats that could affect your performance in battle:

* Strength for Shield Block Amount / Damage Reduction. Also for higher damage, which is more enmity.
* Vitality for Health.
* Dexterity for increasing Parry & Shield Block percentages.

I'm getting this feeling that Tanks will eventually just start getting Dexterity on their gear along with everything else. It's kind of odd that it's never appeared. In fact, there were those who considered crafted and melded i70 accessories far superior to i90 Fending accessories because the added Strength and Dexterity outweighed the health loss... although it's quite expensive to fully meld Vitality, Parry, Accuracy, and whatever else you want into them. I suppose that those people will be very happy if crafted i90 accessories become available in 2.3

The problem with the Curtana is that if you did it before the shield, you no longer have an animus equipped in your mainhand, but still need to upgrade the shield. With other weapons you no longer need the alexandrite for that weapon once it is upgraded, but if you have another animus, you still can get alexandrites.

This only applies to situations where the sword has been upgraded to Novus but shield is still Animus?

Just wondering, as I have now spent a good number of hours in fates with my Animus Curtana, but no Alexandrite has dropped yet.

Pretty much. Drops were tied to main hand only, rather than animus in main or off hand. Only applies to PLD too since they are the only DoW/DoM with main and off hand Animuses.

Drop rate is really low for alexandrites from fates, so people may not even have noticed this.

I sincerely hope a fix for this is in the works ASAP (next minor maintenance) for all the PLDs out there. (Although, as others have said, not that it really drops that much anyways, but still...) Thanks.

My Pally friend feels this bug goes deeper. He has had no problem getting ATMAs but now that he has his Animus he has got 0 alexandrite from fates meanwhile I have got 11 and we both have done about the same number of fates(which is alot). I know everyone else I have done fates with has gotten at least 1 if not 2 none of them were pallys and they haven't done near as many as we have.

I know this might be a lot to ask but could you check to see if you can even get alexandrite with a Curtana and Holy Shield Animus. Or can any pally confirm they have gotten one.

Just wanted to clarify to see if I'm reading this too literally. Do you mean that nobody with any animus weapon will be able to obtain alexandrite from FATEs until the issue with Curtana Novus is fixed, or do you mean simply that only those who have upgraded to Curtana Novus already will be unable to obtain alexandrite from FATEs for now? Just to be sure before I spend more time FATE grinding! Alternately, has anybody gotten alexandrite drops from FATEs since this message went up yesterday? Thanks for the help.

I believe it specificly implies that if you are a PAL and have an Animus Shield equipped but a Novus Sword, then you will not be obtaining Alexandrites via fates. All cases where an Animus is in the main hand slot are still valid cases for obtaining them from fates.
