Novus weapon upgrade system findings

Um, I'm just curious. So far on my Sphere scroll for my Smn book I've put in 7 tier 1 Acc materia, and have not yet been able to put in a tier 2. How does that work? I thought I'd be putting in tier 2 after the 4th or 5th, but so far no luck.

From what I've heard it works in tiers. Once you put in enough 1s, you head to 2s, then 3s and 4s. If someone else could elaborate and/or correct me if I'm wrong I'm curious as well.

That's how it works. The number needed for each tier is different depending on the stat and whether or not its normal weapon, Curtana, or Holy Shield.

I was under the impression it would work at 1 type of materia at a time.

Yeah, you will need to put in as many materia as you can into the first set consisting of grade 1s, then proceed to do the same with grade 2s, and so on. The amount you need is dependent on the stats you are changing.

So do DET/Piety really give a whole stat point and only use up 1/75 of the sphere scroll capacity?

If that's the case, it seems like any class that wants one of those two stats should stick them on the relic since they're usually more valuable than other stats on a point per point basis, but don't suffer from the weighting penalty that's usually applied when those stats are on other pieces of gear.

You would take det over parry as a tank? why- mitigation means less to cure, easier to react in a timely manner for heals, cds imo.

Max Parry, then split the remainder between Det and Accuracy? Fully-stacking Accuracy might be overkill, after all.

Parry has been proven over and over to be an extremely marginal mitigation increase for paladins due to the way block takes precedence. I can see it being useful for warrior but paladins stacking parry is a waste.
