The way you understand it? Who is telling you that I's can even be used? It's just speculation at this point.

It's a more reasonable assumption than going nuts over materia IV prices going to skyrocket.

You're also assuming that Alexandrite use is based on per Materia and not per Stat on the Materia i.e. it could be that you need 4 Alexandrite for a materia that has DET +4 and 10 Alexandrite for a materia that has DET +10. Speculation at this point regardless since we don't know the exact details.

Being able to use all grades of materia unrestricted until you reach the cap would be great.
eg. I can use 3 x II materia instead of absolutely needing a tier IV with no penalties provided the correct amounts of Alexandrite are supplied.

IF that is the case (and let's hope it is)... people flocking to the market boards buying all the inflated IVs might actually just be burning the gil?

Until we know how it works as in can you only use a certain amount of materia only or is it up till a cap. Who knows if we will need tier 4 or can use a bunch of 1,2,3s

Kind of depends on if we'll need Materia IV, or if Materia I, is sufficient...
But considering that Animus could take 150hrs, and there's multiple ways to obtain Alexandrites....i'm wondering how many alexandrites we'll even need? and Materia part will probably be a big time-sink...so i guess Materia IV...or even V
That way no one will have a head-start. Maybe we can get Materia V, by de-synth high lv gear, instead of SB. So might want to grind DL gear to de-synth, or even primal/coil gear.
