This is degenerating into squabble rather quickly. It really doesn't matter if you think the content is easy, as obviously not everyone feels that way. This attitude of "well I can do it so you just suck" is exactly what the OP was talking about. It's genuinely amazing to me how many people fail in realizing their own arrogance.

It's called "humility," try it sometime. It has nothing to do with whether you feel jumping rope is easy. It has nothing to do with whether you feel the whole game is easy. It has everything to do with a lame-horse mechanic that ISN'T challenging and ISN'T healthy for the WHOLE of the community.

I have no problem "accepting that people exist". I do admit to getting frustrated by these people when I spend two weeks trying to get my 6th Titan EX kill because of them, though. I don't want to be a sociopathic elitist screaming at people, "Why can't you learn to dodge?!" I really, really don't. But the more I play with people the more I get like this because, wow. I am (apparently) a player of above average skill but I can't even do Second Coil because it is just that hard to find seven other people to do it with. Despite the fact that I'm in the #2 ranked FC on my server in terms of size/activity.

There's a time for socializing, teaching new players how to play, and screwing around. End game raiding is time for seriousface. Instead of learning to step it up just a little bit, people seem to be learning to expect to have their hand held and the content cleared for them.

my feeling when I read some pseudo-"hardcore" posts

15% Echo Buff makes Turn 5 faceroll easy. It was solo-tankable (even by some PF groups) before echo, now it's super easy to solo-tank it. How is that living in a dreamworld or prove I run those with a static?

Take a look at actual numbers and come say again that T5 is so faceroll easy. (hint : you can get % of completion for T5 in PS4 achievements. Unless you label PS3/4 players as "bad players", but then I can nothing for you.)

And that is using the DF, it would seem far less likely that out of all the controlled PFs looking for people to clear t5, none of them have cleared it since the start of the game.

Without even judging about EN/JP levels of skill, and solely on the reading of this reddit, you could see why they were able to do it when in NA/EU servers it would be hard :

=> playing at a time when "only good players" are
=> japanese people don't flame you for not going their way (they just leave if they can't stand it), ie less reasons to get the toxic DF groups we can see on NA servers on Coil/Ex primals, ie more chances to complete it even if you are not perfect.

while it may be true for some, you can't expect to fix people childish behavior by acting in a childish way.

That's why I always leave any duty which I know I won't enjoy : people flaming, not even trying (by that I mean people saying : "OK we wiped one on titan HM, gonna wipe 4 more times to carry all these noobs". Well, ok, without me guys.) or more generally people who can't enjoy playing.

What is amazing for me is that OP wants contents that can be enjoyed by everyone, from the so called casual to the so called hardcore. I don't even understand why there are discussion about handling everything to casuals.

This thread is the zillionth evidence that trying to reason with elitists is like trying to teach kangaroos to play the fiddle. The real problem, though, is not elitists, but developers always catering to them, though they are a minority. I guess all game developers are elitist at heart.

This is the reason we can't have good things, we can no more have real fun in games, game communities fill with arrogant jerks, people unsubscribe, games (except WoW, for now) end having 100k players instead of 10 million, games go free to play.

This is the problem: devs cater to elitists and forget about the majority of players - and the majority goes away. :P

There are many fights that casuals can't do.

In general; all the extreme primals, twintania and all of second coil. Fortunately, extremes are not tied to story so they can enjoy the game by beating story mode versions. Twintania kind of makes it tough but eventually with some decent FC members even casuals can down, or get carried, through it. This argument is foolish otherwise.

Although, it's as OP said, even with more gear if you can't do the mechanic, you can't do the mechanic. Which is what they wanted SE to move away from even a little bit.

That number would only be true if they had a 100% retention rate. You need to remove everyone who has quit to get an accurate %.

Sure, but it won't go as high as a sufficient number to say it has become "faceroll easy".

Even with, say, 50% of people who left (and assuming everyone who has beaten T5 stayed, which is highly unlikely to be true), 5-6% would become 10-12%, which isn't even remotely close from "faceroll easy" content

This game has 2000 hours of casual content and 2 hours of hardcore content, and the developers are catering to the elitists? Are you for real?

Without some difficult content, this is a Final Fantasy-flavored Second Life. Nobody should want that.
