The thing is FFXI is still active you can play it and the fights have not changed almost everything still is tank and spank the fights are easy compared to FFXIV you tank and spank the boss and collect your gear.

yes, xi is still up and running, but current xi is as close to old xi as arr is to xiv1.0. both games are 100% different than they were originally.

You haven't played FFXI recently SE is going through redoing most all old bcnm fights and mission fights Zilart, AA ect for the level 99+ cap and dropping new gear or items to upgrade old af, and relic gear. Its pretty much the same exact fights people done for ages now only redone for lv99. And they play almost the same as they did back before the 99 cap only the mobs have 99+ stats

originally in xi you had to put in years to level and get your gear. neither of those are true anymore.

in xiv1.0 you had to put in a bunch of time to level and get your gear. this isn't true anymore either.
