that's exactly yoship's stance on this. prolong content with fake difficulty. being able to down something by merit is a much more enjoyable experience, no?

this is also tied to the fact that this game basically throws everything else out that would make it an rpg. superlinear gear progression, no elemental weaknesses, no customization that's more than a BiS number game (oh wow, i now heal 10 hp more, my cure is casting 0,01 faster, such difference, let me alter my rotations right away... ahem).
