That dps check in Titan HM, with folks in Darklight/AK gear, was a huge roadblock for most of the player base for a good while till myth let them start over-gearing and/or they uped their game. Can't really shoot down a dps check on the count of it not holding back the top percentage.
Statistics like this are stupid, ridiculous and possibly true.
How can you count the casual base at 60% when their presence in the game are almost non-existent?
Sure they pay a sub, they are counted among the general census. But they are only online for 2-3 hours a week?
This is where the catering to the casual" plan fails....the bar has to be set lower for someone on the other side of the planet to get off work, pick up their kids at school, do taxes. These type of players offer nothing to the grand scheme of the community and further game development since making anything hard in the game means that self-individual won't do it.
when the 60% starts acting like a majority instead of 'accounts receivable', then maybe we get to see some real endgame design in the future.
Most one shot mechanics are usually ultimate moves and I can accept that.
Twister shouldn't kill In one shot, instead it should deal 60% and keep the knock back it has. This will make people avoid the move. Dive bombs don't one shot people it does high damage.
In the old days most people got LB3 and could just Lb the heart. Only instant kill was the Heart phase and if you fell off. After that you could take your time killing Titan only thing you would have to.deal with is Titan stomping 9x in a row. After that nothing killed you in one hit unless you ran in front of Titan and he mountain buster or if you didn't get healed for incoming damage.
Ramuh has a ridiculous DPS check average ilvl of 80? After you get passed that there are no one shot mechanics that nobody accept for tanks have to worry about getting one shot.

I want those who agreed w/ the OP to just go play Ramuh Extreme and come back and say how it went. Because it has that total randomness you guys wanted but it also retained some script. It has that that big ass dps check so it most definitely relies on that "make gear mater more" aspect. It has a lot that the OP and many of you wanted yet to my disappointment PROBABLY MOSTLY ALL of you who wanted this, have not completed this fight post titan-egi fix. Also you can recover from this fight as long as you dps doesn't die before/during add phase. But I tell you no matter how good your team is bad rng can and almost always lead to dead dps which in turn fails that dps check which in turn makes runs more hard then it needs to be that not even counting the ppl who can't handle regular scripted easy to understand mechanics.
actually we did this with 3 or 4 people that never went into the fight before (post titan-egi fix). Took us about 2h to clear it.
I didn't want to go there yet (was a tank at that time), never looked at a guide, but the fc wanted to go. Both tanks were new and 1-2 dps.
I don't think its an easy fight, especially for the first timers, but i don't recall having dps checks issues. More was managing the orbs properly, randomness of spawn times and such things. Certainly an interesting fight, and challenging (at least for < ilvl 100), but as i said, with half of the team there for the first time, it was done in around 2h.
I just hope people don't ask for something like Ifrit Ex which was a HUGE letdown after Titan Ex.

This is starting to sound a bit like the diet industry and how people blame all sorts of single things for causes of obesity. There is no one thing that is causing the community to be the way it is. The problem is inherent in the design of multiple systems, including end game. Honestly, if Coil and extremes didn't exist in this game I think there would be a whole lot less complaining then there is right now (not to mention a better balance of classes, people actually feeling like they have time to do crafting, and other such things that the game offers). Does that mean that doing this would stop the situation dealing with efficiency grinding or mercenary behavior? Most likely not, but if hunts are any indication I'd rather have things that bring the community together than something that just serves to tear it apart.

Less people playing. Coil and primals serve as a long term goal for a lot of people. Even though the majority may never beat it until they overgear + echo it it's still there as that one content they have yet to beat and something they can strive for.
If you make coil easy, to be cleared in a month by everyone people would just leave afterwards. What would be the point of doing hunts, roulette, relic? I did them only to get better gear and I wanted the better great for one reason only, to help me on coil.

personally i do crafting, because i did abandon the coil and EX, not because i lack capacity... but because i lack the statics for it and the will to do it... i don't find this fight exciting, i'm sorry but DDR fight are not fight! skill of the player in this fight are almost near 0 since you can almost play in automatic.
and what bother me in a way it's this, with the add of the 2.4 and BC3.... what will happend to the person that was unable to pass T5 because of the mechanic they did place there for make the fight harder than normal (all the one shoot mechanic) exept ninja and the quest line, they will have nothing to do since for get into bc3 you need to finish bc2... add echo don't change anything.
they did copy WoW, but did miss the fact that WoW have a lot of flaws. the model based on raid and vertical progression. added to the ultra scripted fight make the game lack of deepth.
