Redesign Updater Please

Let's face it, this updater is hands down the WORST feature of FFXIV. It should not take 12 hours or more to download a patch, and the download speed should NOT sit at 0 Kb/s for hours on end, especially when most people playing the game have decently fast internet connections. It hasn't seen an update since 9/18/2010, and according to some people who played the beta, it hasn't been improved on at all.

I would like to hear what SE is doing to address this issue, as not all of us are tech-savvy hackers who can manually update the game with a 3rd party torrent.

I wish I knew why everyone has trouble with it. I already finished the download through their own updater for today and it only took about an hour. Hope your issue gets resolved ^^

i got the update in less than an hour through the updater.. sounds like something is wrong with your connection... try opening all the proper ports on your router.

10 minutes? Nice! I had other stuff running so it might have slowed it down, but updates normally are 30-60 minutes.

Why don't u just utorrent it like the alpha an beta users do xD ive been here since almost forever an i hear people use that downloader from SE even they know there downloader sucks that while they give us an open file when u start it to torrent it, it's much faster but i guess in some cases SE's downloader is good it's not for me so i torrent it an it only takes about 5mins to download the 1gb patchs from back then but ive seen a change in there patch seeders from back then it used to be like 3k seeders i torrented today now it was only around 900total but maybe i just got on to early -_-'

Downloaded in an hour and a half. I should be getting a lot faster speeds than this.

I have an amazing connection, and I've never had a problem with any other downloader.
except for this one..I started downloading at 2:30.. its 5:00..and I'm only at 73%..

its keeps going from 50 kbs to 120 kbs..and my normal download speed is 1.3-1.4 mbps..
soo idk what the problem is.

They need a direct download version for those with throttled peer-to-peer or no access to torrents. They happen to cut off my internet, so I get 30 second bursts of downloading between several minutes of no internet access for everyone in my house. Other games with bittorrent patchers give you the option to disable peer-to-peer connections.
