you guys should be torrenting the file its so easy its within the FF14 folder already once u try to get on FF14 it download the patch which is a torrent an then u just cancel it go to download in your ff14 folder blahblahblah torrent it get like 3mbs an 5mins later its done =D

i got the update in less than an hour through the updater.. sounds like something is wrong with your connection... try opening all the proper ports on your router.

I have, I have manually set my firewall to allow the game through, I currently have my security software turned OFF, and my download speed is non-exsistant. I'm a second from turning off my router and restarting.

go to your directory

the torrent file is in documents >games>ffxiv>downloads>ffxiv?48eca647>metainfo with the name of todays date.torrent or wherever u may have installed it

open the file with utorrent

It took me about 2hrs with the official patcher with ports open, I have torrented a 4GB file in that time before, problem is SE's patcher and they know it is.

Download the patch, it's available, google it.

Drop it in My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV\downloads\ffxiv\48eca647\patch

Relaunch the client and it will act like it's downloading, but since you already placed the patch in the folder it will go right to 100%. Then it installs just as it would the normal way.

Why don't u just utorrent it like the alpha an beta users do xD ive been here since almost forever an i hear people use that downloader from SE even they know there downloader sucks that while they give us an open file when u start it to torrent it, it's much faster but i guess in some cases SE's downloader is good it's not for me so i torrent it an it only takes about 5mins to download the 1gb patchs from back then but ive seen a change in there patch seeders from back then it used to be like 3k seeders i torrented today now it was only around 900total but maybe i just got on to early -_-'

Shouldnt have to use 3rd party shit to update the game. This updater is terrible, definatly the worst one ive ever used out of every mmo ive ever played.

I dont want to fucking jump through hoops to update a game. They do need to change it.

It is, but it's likely never going to change. There is a workaround available. Should you have to use it? No. However choosing not to and complaining about it (not saying you, but a lot of people do this) is ridiculous.

We really shouldn't have to use torrents, this damn thing shouldn't be this slow. This really should be on the top of the list for fixes for this game. Nobody wants to try to login to be greeted with an update that takes all day to download.
