    Suggestion: Controller use of L2 + R2

Is it possible to add 8 more icons to the crossbar by adding them to a combination of L2+R2 just like we do when we just press L2 or R2? That would give controller users a better overview of the abilities that are mapped to the controller.

I haven't checked it out for one reason or another, but there is a system for switching hotbars if you push L2 -> R2 or vice versa (can set them to be different hotbars based on order). I'm not sure if this will suffice for you or not. I was hoping they could just make the pallet of each hotbar 24 actions instead of 16 (having L2 section on the left, L2+R2 in the middle, and R2 on the right), but they decided against it if it was even considered. Would certainly be nice though as for most classes this would allow me to use just 1 hotbar for more or less everything i use.

EDIT: This reminded me to try it out and it's a bit different than I thought. It works about like I wanted it to actually in that you can set it so that both orders pull up the same 1/2 hotbar to basically give you another 8 actions on your main hotbar (though you can't see them unless you push both shoulder buttons). They appear and disappear without actually changing your current hotbar, so this is actually very close to your suggestion and potentially more usable if you can get in the habit of pushing the shoulder buttons in a specific order.

This already exists in-game. Under your character config go to the Hotbar settings > cross bar settings and there is an option for "Expanded hold controls". You can set up an extra set of 8 actions that show up by holding L2 + R2 and you can even have it so you access 2 different sets depending on if you hold L2 or R2 first. Keep in mind that as the name implies this function only works if you have your crossbar set to Hold or Mixed, Toggle won't work.

And if you set them to different hotbars, you can separate out class-specific and general sections (since whether to share between classes is hotbar specific). For example, I have L1+R1 bring up the left side of one hotbar, which is shared between classes and has general stuff like Return, Sprint, Mount Roulette, gysahl greens, my favorite minion, and a couple emote macros, while R1+L1 brings up the right side of a different hotbar, which is class specific and provides some overflow room for class skills that don't fit on hotbar 1 or that are more situational rather than my main attack/craft skills. (Then both of these hotbars are excluded from the ones I'll cycle through, since the L1+R1 or R1+L1 gives me access to the parts of them I use.)

In total, you can have up to 32 skills available without any hotbar switching (more obviously if you also switch hotbars). And you can choose whether 0, 8, 16, 24, or all 32 are class-specific.

I have some issues with the rest of the controller setup in this game (as discussed in this thread), but I think SE did quite a good job with the cross-hotbars. With a bit of tweaking to find the setup you like, they can be quite versatile.
