    unique fps issue

I say unique because not a lot of people would complain about this. my fps is about 170-180. ya that's high. but its also eating up my gpu a lot. and that I do not want. I have tried setting it to limit at 60 and at 30. also tried window mode, boarderless window, and full screen. and a combination of all these. and my fps stays at 170+. and my gpu core clock usage stays at 80%-99%. this does not happen all the time. I could go days or weeks with it staying at 60fps. then out of the blue I see my gpu usage spike to 80%+ and notice my fps is over 170 again while I have limit 60 enabled. my pc specs if it matters is 4770k cpu/ evga GTX 770 OC gpu/ sabertooth Z87 motherboard. and an 1000w power supply. I don't don't like seeing my core clock usage spike over 80% when I have the graphics set to desktop standard. and temp over 70c. yes I know 70c on gpu isent to bad. but I do not like it. I usually keep it at 56-58 while gaming. if anyone can figure out why the fps limit option wont limit my fps that's what I need to fix. I don't want to burnout a relitivly new gpu.

have you checked the refresh rate on your monitor? have you tried to enable vertical sync? you could try using DXTory. the FPS Limiter is a free feature on the program. also since you are using a Nvidia. there should be a frame rate limiter built in to your graphics settings. if you can't find you could try downloading Nvidia Inspector. it's an awesome program for Nvidia cards that allows you access to many options you may never knew existed.

on the bright side... with a higher frame rate your game responsiveness will be higher. use input response will be faster. and if you have a monitor with a really high refresh rate, the game will look less blurry when moving your camera around n' such.
