Suggestion: PS4 - allow export/import of gearset data (GEARSET.DAT) to USB to/from PC

I play primarily on PC, but also play on PS4 at various times. I find it frustrating that my gearsets get out of sync between platforms and it's always cumbersome to go back and re-sync these by hand.

I would really love to be able to export/import a GEARSET.DAT file from the PS4 to/from the PC via USB. (This is the file that's easily accessible on PC, but is inaccessible on the PS4.)

I understand that server-side sync'ing of these is coming in the future, but this would be really appreciated in the meantime. Even if this were done via a PS4 app, that would help tremendously.

    Thanks for considering this!

I second that! I usually play on the PS4, but sometimes, I have to go on business trips for a few days. The PC version of FF14 runs great on my notebook, but it seems there is no option to have the following items in sync:

    - Crossbars / Hotbars (very painful, since I am just starting to play and level up more and more classes every week...)
    - Gear sets (also very painful to sync...)

I understand that, for some settings, a 100% sync is not desirable (e.g. font sizes and UI element positions). But being able to at least sync the two items mentioned above would really make me a very happy customer. Please SE, this cannot be that difficult to implement!

It's not about being "difficult" but more about Sony having encrypted / signed Game saves which they migh not be keen to have decypted and read by / written to by PC application.

I agree that there might be legal problems, but if FF14 just stored _everything_ on the SE servers' side (where the basic character data, your inventory etc. already is), there would be no data on the PS4 console or the PSN account in need to be decrypted.

Some settings it makes sense to have on the client. UI arrangement the most obvious as it depends on the size of the screen. Hotbar setups would be different between a system played with controller than one played with keyboard/mouse. I can even understand storing keybinds locally, since a PC player may want different keybinds on their main desktop PC with a full-sized keyboard than they do on their laptop that lacks the numpad.

But when it comes to gearsets, those should have been stored server-side in the first place. There's nothing system specific about what gear you want your character to wear.

I'm pretty sure the issue with porting the gearset.dat between PC and PS3/PS4 as suggested in the OP is an issue with Sony's file handling rules. But that wouldn't have been an issue if SE kept that data on the servers where it belongs.
