Pets without SMN, BST, PUP, and DRG

A quick look through the forums and I see many people requesting that pets be introduced to the game with new classes to accompany the pets. I feel adding a Summoner or Beastmaster may feel out of place with the current settings of the world but pets shouldn't be ignored entirely. My idea basically would be to add a new element to the game of owning pets without having to be a specific class to use such. Good pet choices would obviously be a Moogle, a Mammet, a baby Chocobo and a baby Wyvern. The actual use of these pets could be similar to the function of NPC partner system in FFXI. They could rank up with you, learn new skills, interact with you and help you with everyday tasks. I even took some time to think up some quick ideas for such. There are many possibilities to what the pet can do for you to improve your play experience and many developer elements such as pet affinity or pet behavior. A player should be allowed to own all the pet types, but only able to call upon one pet at a time. Basically would be just like having a pet in real life allowing you to feed, neglect and play with a pet as any class of course. Because I own a dog and a cat does not normally make me a Beastmaster right?

Moogle: Acquired through quest "To Charm a Moogle" Rank 30
    Mage Class
    Skills: Tackle, Cure, Protect, Shell
Special Ability: Benediction(Instant): Fully heal you when reaching critical HP (2hour reuse)

Mammet: Acquired through quest "Fix my Robot" Rank 30
    Ranger Class
    Skills: Shoot, Sidewinder, Hide, Disable
Special Ability: Repair: Fully repair a weapon, tool, accessory or equipment (2hour reuse)

Chocobo: Acquired through quest "Summoning the Fat Chocobo" Rank 30
    Melee Class
Skills: Peck, Wing Attack, Fly, Treasure Finder*Trait (Occasionally finds items while called out)
Special Skill: Chocobo Song: Your Baby Chocobo chirps a tune that lightens your heart. (30 minute hasten like Hermes' Sandals effect) 2hour reuse

Dragon: Acquired through quest "Tame that Dragon" Rank 30
    Melee Class
Skills: Bite, Scratch, Dragon Rage(ATK/MATK Up), Flamethrower
Special Skill: Ancient Wisdom: 30 minutes of +5% Skill and Experience points gain (2hour reuse)

Again just random ideas for a possible pet element to the game that would not be a copy of pets in FFXI. Just thought it would be fun to toss out some ideas that doesn't force having pets in the game to adding a new class just for each pet. A good player could fully utilize the element of a pets full potential and enjoy a cute partner in the game.

Oh, pets should be allowed to be named and come in various colors of course, for Moogles it would be the little ball on its head.

I like your ideas but would have to disagree on you with this. Like me many others would really love our pet jobs from ffxi brought or re-imagined in ffxiv(would love to see how my wyvern would look with these graphics). For me the name Dragoon doesn't have to be the name but give me a class with my wyvern(and Jump!) back and i will be happy.

The ideas are nice, but I would kill for a summoner class again. It was by far my favorite class in FFXI, however that is probably far off from now.

I love how you used Pokemon attack names.

I like the idea of having a person pet (or many.) I have been advocating for a Carrier Pigeon > Hawk class. It would be useful as a delivery service in addition to all the other useful abilities.

I would also like to see summoner show up, but not for a good little while yet.

Still if you look beyond at the history of Final Fantasy as a whole and not just 11, true pet classes are incredibly rare. Outside of Final Fantasy 11 the class/job Dragoon does not possess a pet wyvern to use or control. Summoning specific characters are exclusive to only FF4, 9, 10 and 11 where as all other versions of the game any or multiple people could use and control them as pets. If a player wanted classes true to the Final Fantasy name, shouldn't it be more realistic for a Dragoon not to have a pet at all. Beastmaster is the only class that regularly uses and controls pets to battle and Puppetmaster like characters in previous games do not appear on the battlefield as themselves often. Sorry if I missed any major pet classes that existed outside of 11, my memory is little fuzzy.

Right now with the system balanced the way it is, pets have no place in the game. There is a very difficult balancing decision to make regarding pets and many games have tried (and failed) to do so. Either you end up with an unplayable class or you end up with a very overpowered and often the class itself is susceptible to player abuse (i.e., exploits) I think SE needs to try to separate this from FFXI and not have permanent pets but maybe look into something more temporary or tied to abilities of a class.

This is completely true for the single player experience but most(including me) would like the online to continue this trend and allow us to have those pets(even though I would still play as a drg just give me jump lol).

I would like to see Summons added to the game, though since I agree with the earlier post

Therefore instead of pets that stay out and use abilities, the possible addition of quested spells that summon the [GF, summon, avatar, etc] for a moment for it to use its ability, then it dissapears (also like Odin & Alexander in FFXI). That way it is just another spell and shouldn't be too difficult to stop it from making a class overpowered.

    Random thoughts:
*No necessity to add a new class since Conjurer...conjures.
*They can also add items that are consumed when the player casts a summon to make it so they can make them much more powerful than a normal spell.

As for DRG, in tactics they didn't have wyverns running around with them. Just think of Lancer as the new DRG.

I too miss my Jump dammit. How can you have a Final Fantasy game with a Polearm class without Jump.
