must have mandatory join in progress

it always happens, where you form a duty finder group after a long wait. then right after that long wait, a tank or healer leaves, or even a dps. now, you wait even longer than before to find the new player, or you disband after fifteen minutes or take that thirty minute penalty as well. it also happens in trials, after 1 wipe, half the group leaves. now the trial is screwed because no one clicks join in progress. this is why i think it should be mandatory to join a group in progress if needed. i actually turned "join in progress off" because oftentimes i will join a group that is missing a tank and will have wasted my time in queue.

So, you want it to be mandatory for people to join in progress, yet you yourself choose to not join in progress?

Anyway, I always click join in progress, and I don't think I've ever gotten an in progress party. I think the bigger issue is that the DF fills up new parties BEFORE moving on to in progress. Therefore, the more people waiting for their initial pop will get the first healer or tank that queues, then, if nobody is queued, it will look at those needing fills. Most of the time, if we had a player rage out or otherwise leave for whatever reason, we have always filled from someone's FC. Just have them queue for that specific dungeon in progress and 98% of the time they pop for your party. I've seen once where my FC mate did that and got paired with another party, but I've only seen it once. Some people don't want to queue in progress because they might be missing out on some of the loot/tomes/exp depending on how far into the run the party is (no way of knowing until you pop), or they might be concerned as to why the party lost a member (was the party bad and the other healer not want to waste their time, is there an abusive player in the party and the person that left felt insulted...) people have their own reasons, and are entitled to the choice.

They should just make it so you can set which you prefer as a default.

That and it seems in progress roulettes don't like putting you in in-progress parties, quite a few times recently someone will say "hey any tank wanna join lost city (or whereever) in progress? someone ditched", queue up appropriate roulette in progress and nothin.

You just gave an example as to why it isn't allowed anymore.

As for OP... no. For the very reason you yourself stated - you can't stand entering dungeons that are missing multiple members, particularly the tank. Do you really think this will fix that problem, or do you think it'll just screw over everyone else all the harder?

It's not allowed so that we can't help our friends?

Roulettes were put into the game to get players into the duty pool. Engineering a drop in to finish a roulette with friends does not do that.

You can still drop in to help friends. You just can't get soldiery and myth for it.

Wrong, if there is a run in need of your class that is in progress and you mark the join in progress box you will get that first.

I have joined a run in progress plenty of times as a healer when a FC mate calls for help because their healer left them, I que up and mark join in progress and always get in their group.

Also another note, if someone drops from the run you can leave without incurring the penalty. You only get the penalty if you leave a full group.

They need to change the system first to grab all missing party members before letting people enter as replacements to avoid entering join in progress and the dungeon having 1 DPS left.

That works if you pick the dungeon itself. They changed the way roulette works however and now it puts in progress duties at low priority. Too many people were queuing roulettes and withdrawing until they got a pretty much finished run for quick tomes.

This won't necessarily fix anything because as soon as the first person drops from the dungeon it starts searching. It finds a replacement and queues them in just as the next person drops out. It might happen a little less often but it would still happen. Plus if I was missing a tank and DPS I'd prefer if that DPS dropped in and we trio our way to a boss room waiting for a tank than having to wait for both slots to fill up and have to stand around.
