There is no reason to communicate via shout. There is PF for forming parties, FC chat for talking with friends, LS chat for talking with friends or about something specific (coil, primals, etc). Honestly, what do you expect people to say in these shout channels...? It seems perfectly fine to me. There is nothing more annoying than two people carrying out a conversation in shout instead of /tell.

Oh true I guess, I mean, I suppose people could recruit for their FC or something. I'd much rather see that in shout instead of like in party finder. FC recruit posts have no place in party finder imho... :s

But beyond that, I don't even seen people saying something in jest or even accident in shout. All i see in shout or yell is RMT, so heaven forbid these days if someone says something in those channels for legitimate reasons I might blacklist them on reflex now... lol

I don't know what's up with your server, but some servers are quite lively though I would find shouting and yelling spamming annoying.
And it is only regional, so you have to go to different zones to shout.

Try the PF for FC/LS? or maybe your playtime is not the same as majority of the players from your server.

Except there goes the point of meeting new people in an mmo game, i have met a ton of people via just random chat some of them very good friends, removing that factor means everyone is walled off and the lack of FCs recruiting means new players wont get into these new communities so the world will feel like you see all these other people around you but you cannot interact with them, i mean seriously when an npc is more up for a talk than the players something is wrong, you may think its annoying but i see it as the community interacting with each other.....its so fractured as it is currently......

EDIT: made a new character on gilgamesh to test......people are actually talking, like actual conversations! and there were gil sellers! i have never been so happy to see those assholes!

We are currently in pre patch burnout phase. Happens in every MMO. People arent playing, and one who do are doing mindless activity like tome or atma grinding. So people dont have their brains turned on.

Come back at release of 2.3 and you will see community come back to life.

Most of the time I talk in TS, FC or my LS chats. I don't often strike up random conversations in shout. I bet if I did try to chat in shout someone would ask us to take it to /tell.

Either way, whenever I log in I always see multiple chats going on. There is no lack of social interaction.

that is because you are in gilgamesh, and as i have posted in one of my posts, has an actual community, besides this thread is about the eu servers specifically :P

The reason is pretty much PF. Everything is done via PF nowadays. Everything from Speedruns to FC recruitment. For both good and bad. I really like open conversations, but I like that the "FC LF BRD" and "BLM LF T1" shouts have died out. Now it is actually possible to talk with someone while in Mordor <___<

FC and LS recruitment over PF = NO if you cant put in the time of day to talk to me in person and convince me to join your FC/LS then i doint want to be a part of your FC/LS

I never said you did.

I simply posted that my server does not have this issue.

Anyway, lets talk about EU servers. I think you should transfer to Balmung. Not Gilgamesh. Because server "peek" times are different and whatnot... yeah.
