Paladin Atma Farming question

To upgrade both sword and shield does it require 12 atmas each or just 12 atmas for both.

12 atmas for both. Also 9 books for both, 7 for the sword, 2 for the shield I believe.

Once 2.28 drops, will it be possible for me to pursue the Holy Shield Novus while still working on getting the Curtana Animus? It would be awesome if we could

I don't think so as other jobs requires their weapons to Animus before they can work on Novus. If they allow PLD to work on Novus with just the Holy Shield Animus, people will cry foul.

Yep, one set of 12 Atma will give you both the Curtana and Holy Shield Atma. The books are also indeed split as the above poster stated. It is perfectly possible to do the two shield books and actually upgrade it to Animus before even touching the sword.

I seriously doubt it, especially considering that lore-wise, Curtana is your relic weapon; the shield is just kinda thrown in there with it in the quest (I don't think Gerolt ever even mentions it).

It would be completely unfair to everyone else, in any case.

Upgrading the shield to Animus triggers the Animus achievement, so I don't think it's entirely outside the realm of possibility.

I have done both shield books and the shield has not upgraded.

Take it back to north shroud to make it animus. I've done it the other way around, I have curtana animus right now, but haven't done the books for shield yet.

Yep, if you complete all of the books for the sword or shield, you can upgrade it to Animus immediately by taking it to the guy in the North Shroud. I'm currently using the Holy Shield Animus and I haven't finished a single book for the Curtana itself.

Thanks both Rufalus and Donjo. You can go to Jalzahn and upgrade the Shield only, so I suppose the Sword too if you have all the Sword books but not the shield. I deleted the post with incorrect information so that people don't waste time reading it.

You need to put the shield in the armoury chest. I didn't do it and he answered I needed the 9 books and also place it in the armoury chest, but then it worked without the 9 books, with the shield, having both shield books done and shield placed in the armoury chest.

About the possibility of obtaining the Novus Shield without having completed the Curtana Animus, I don't know. I guess both Sword and Shield will have to be Animus, but I don't know for sure.
