The idea of a cash shop in this game is beyond stupid, this isn't some trashy F2P game. Don't give them any ideas...

No cash shop of any kind should exist in a subscription based game. That includes retainers/fantasia and items "just" for vanity. I'll tolerate it for now because I don't really care about either retainers or fantasia, and I still really like the game, but if it escalates any further i'll be taking my money elsewhere.

That was really more of a bonus for an extremely overpriced soundtrack.
It's mostly songs we already had with the 1.0 disk. You technically already had them. And that one came with a whole game at half the base cost.
I find music in general is a bit overpriced, but that may be just the fact I live in an area where music is plentiful and cheap to harvest.

An FF VII cross-over event would bring them more money than a cash shopYes and yes. From what we have seen the [FFXIV:ARR] developers have a genuine love for the game and franchise, so if they are pressured by the company (SE) to find more ways to bring in revenue I believe that if they chose to expand their cash shop (the Mog Station) they would do it in a way that would cause the most minimal damage to the community.
That's an opinion, but you're telling me people would re-sub for an in-game event they probably will not hear about? Many people outside of FF and SqEx fans do not sub to the newsletter or frequent places that news of such (in-game events) gets advertized.
Analogies are fun.
Cash shops are like online stores. So if you enjoy ordering things from Amazon, ebay, or other online shops, without moving from your computer, you'd love a cash shop.
The analogy falls slightly short at the fact that worst case cash shops charge you tenfold of the item value, or they steal your bike to sell it to you. But for a really good shop, the analogy is perfect.

all items (such as vanity) should be FREE and included in patches. Exceptions include fantasia, name change potion and server transfer. That's it.
