Is it against the ToC to sell carries?

    As per the thread title.

I'm intending to sell coil2 with my static and i have buyers who are willing to pay a huge ton of money for it. 10s of mil.

I was wondering if i will be suspended for RMT or what not if i were to sell such carries.

Can a dev get back to me?

Also wondering. The millions of filthy smelling gil sitting on my retainers hangs over me like the sword of damocles.

No its not against the ToS because you are selling in game services for in game money.

To be honest, people who're willing to buy runs for millions of gil are, indeed, probably getting it from RMTs.

Strictly speaking, about selling runs, the regulation on things in the ToS is that you can't trade in-game goods/currencies for out of game services/goods. Carrying someone through the game is an in-game service. But if you're getting millions of gil funneled over from people buying runs you may trip SE's detection systems for RMTs/buyers.

You should probably get in direct discussion with customer support or GMs in-game.

Most people who sell runs are not RMT are players trying to make quick and easy gil. Also SE knows this is happening and they don't really care so i don't think you trip any SE detection. People been doing this for months and the people that sell most of the time it's always the same people doing it every week.

It's not and will never be against the ToS. Other players may despise you though, but I don't think you really care about it if you're asking for Devs' permission.

Would have been a different matter if you somehow made the customers pay with real money such as $$ (as in Real Money Trader, you know)

I think most people would agree the mercenaries are always around, selling content carries in MMOs.

For FFXIV ARR, it is indeed that carries are always around and no one has ever given a bat about it, nor SE had issued any disciplinary actions to these mercenaries.

I think where the concern comes is that the amount of gil involved this time round is unprecedented. The most expensive carries around to date is probably Turn 5, which still commands at least 1mil gil per carry. When EX Primals were selling the same week it was released and cleared, it was also around the 1mil gil range.

Whilst 1mil gil is still a large sum to a lot of players, however considering how much time has passed since the game launched and general wealth of players increased over time with a lot more income sources, 1mil gil doesn't seem that "big" anymore.

However, tens of mil of girl PER CARRY is a lot of gil moving around. The amount of players who have legitimately made these gils via crafting etc are really small. So there comes the concern - what if the carry buyer got his 10mil gil via RMT? The mercenaries could not possibly validate if the gil source is legitimate or not. What if the carry buyer got caught and punished, what happens to the gil? Will it get confiscated from the mercenaries?

It is a complete different ball game because Coil 2 is still under lock out. Without knowing the specifics of the disciplinary actions that SE will take, it is a huge risk to the mercenaries. Losing your tens of mil of gil, together with the Coil 2 loots that were issued to the carry buyer is a terrible loss, which is beyond the control of the mercenary as they have no means to validate source of the gil.

I think that's what probably OP wants to hear from SE, officially - on what specific actions will be taken then they caught players buying RMT gil and use them for content carries. It is a conflict of one legitimate action (selling carries) and one illegitimate action (RMT gil buying from the carry buyer).

This is in no way a gray area. You're trading game gold for game services. Unless you start receiving compensation outside of the game for carry runs, you are 100% safe.
As someone who has literally no interest in grinding out the endgame content, and just wants to pick flowers and breed chocobos and decorate houses, I STRONGLY appreciate the carry runs as an option~~ ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ
