I was kinda bummed we didn't get any vanity gear from the XI crossover event. It would've been fun to have everyone running around in scorpion harnesses and O hats or something.
I hope they do another one sometime.

Now I want to see scorpion gear in ARR lol
Edit: not necessarily stats comparable, but at least for vanity XD

I think FFXI is still too fresh to be ripping stuff directly from it. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, just let the dev team continue to create original content. (although they seem to be taking a lot of influence from FF3 in the case of Crystal Tower, but a lot of people haven't played that game so it's not such a bad thing I think)

Bringing in idea from XI would be a great idea..
But all the people who never played XI feel it was one of the worst mmo ever made.
Unless the content came from WoW it is 100% no go in XIV. WoW Clone only.

It should clone more things from 1.0, like faction leves, Chocobo caravan and Skirmish.
Maybe also Hamlet defence, but I fear people would find it as a grind with a bad RNG (see Atma threads).

I think it would be awesome to see quite a few fights that are from previous FF games. Maybe one old-timey fight per new dungeon. Most of us have played the majority of the games and would love to see the fights with crazier mechanics and better graphics. I'm not sure if they could work everything into the lore, but personally, I wouldn't care if they could or couldn't. I'd just love to relive some things from the good ole days.

1) community forums are a place for people to share ideas and thoughts FF related
2) if you don't agree with the op then just say nope! Flaming is for people that ride the little yellow bus in their minds.
3) anyone who has played FF from say ever, is into the lore, the epic-ness of conflict and teamwork involved in prior releases.
4) in case you haven't noticed. Oh I forgot, you don't do FF lore or redo's. Everything in 14 is either a re-skin or a sequel to every FF before it, down to the mobs and bosses we fight now.
Nice thought OP! Nothing wrong with fresh into the complaint section![]()

I think FFXIV already has a lot of great allusions to FFXI in it. A lot of monster models are taken from FFXI (final boss from AK for example) and even some named monster make a return (Like the Bubbly Bernie FATE in Western Thanalan), not to mention the playable races are inspired from their Vana'diel counterparts.
Not that I wouldn't mind seeing a boss or two make a return, but it seems like there's a FFXI modeled monster everywhere I turn.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.

I'll be forced to say "nope". Not that I don't like the idea of NM, but we are basically getting them under the name of "hunts" in 2.28 (?) or at least 2.3.
One thing I'd love to see coming from FFxi though is the "monster control" (I never played XI so I don't know the exact name sorry) which allowed you to control and level some monsters of your choice. My love for xylomid would be answered a great way
edit : just noticed you were talking about raids (I think they are raids right ? Super hard monsters in a time-locked instance for what I know of). Well either way, I think I remember them being some bosses among NM (again, I never played it and talk from "I've been said so" type of experience). If I'm wrong, some reminding of iconic bosses could be cool, I guess

its called "Monstrosity" and I think it would be a good idea as a way to pass time. pretty sure its a popular feature as they are still adding to it on XI
