Does playing this game on PS4 behave the same as using battleping or any other vpn?

I am curious if anyone knows or if a moderator can clarify this issue for me. I have the game for ps4 and was wondering if logging into the SEN and then logging into FFXIV would be the same as using a vpn service? Such as WTFAST, Battleping, and so on.

Does my network traffic get rerouted when using a ps4 to sony first and then to the data center or once logged into SEN does the ps4 just go straight to the data center like pc's do?

Reason I am asking is I can get vpn for pc no prob but I have never heard of any vpn for game systems. It sure would be nice if Sony was doing vpn for this purpose.

I even had this idea of doing the old network sharing feature built into windows. If I have battleping running does any of the clients that go through my pc network interface get use of battleping? That would be neat if they do. I have a dual nic in my pc and can use it for that purpose by putting the ps4 right into my pc and using the internet sharing feature. Just something else I'm thinking about as well.

FFXIV does not go;

It just goes;

As for re-routing your connection on your PS4, it's entirely possible albeit rather complex to set up a VPN connection for FFXIV on your PS4 through your PC's internet connection.

I recommend avoiding this unless you're aware of what you're doing as it's extremely fiddly, if you're 100% sure you're suffering consistent connection issues and not just prim-time lag (6PM - 12AM) then you should consider contacting your ISP and providing them with the IP address for FFXIV which is;
