[QOL Suggestion] /anonymous, can i have it?

To add to this I'd like an option to toggle disable tells from non-friends and friends. Sometimes I just want to craft or do what ever without having 6 people try to have a conversation with me. Usually I like being social, until I don't.

Anon never got abused in XI ... I'm curious how it could be abused.

if you're worried about trolling, that happens anyways. legitimate trolls do not care about their online ID's reputation. in fact they feed on people knowing they are trolls and having that moniker attached to them. case and point: Crystal Tower

I found the opposite to be true actually. In Crystal Tower, back when Ready Check was introduced it's user was anonymous, and although it was mostly used in battle to make people fail dodge mechanics it was also spammed outside of battle just to annoy everyone.

Then as soon as the devs added into the logs the user, the trolling suddenly stopped. Any few fools who would would continue soon realized that they'd be quickly kicked and could no longer troll.

i dont always want people i dont know to be able to send me tells

hiding your location in player search and on FC/LS/friends list
hiding your job/search info when inspected
hiding your FC tag and info when inspected
only allow people on friends list to send /tell

If you set your online status to Busy, it will block all /tells sent to you.

I'm not exactly sure why you want to hide from your FC/LS mates....perhaps if you want to stay hidden from those people you shouldn't be affiliated with them? Just speculating, this game is kind of supposed to be social. I can understand wanting some privacy, but you could just switch chat logs so you aren't looking at FC/LS chatter and set your online status to Busy so you can't receive tells. Random people can look at your jobs all they want but can't send you a tell if your Busy. And if your chat log is switched to, say, Battle....they can /say and /shout all they want and you still won't see it.

If "Busy" on your online status isn't enough for these people to realize you aren't available or don't want to be bothered, I'm not sure I would want to see what they have to say anyway

Mind you, I'm not against /anon...just offering some work-arounds incase this never gets implemented.

I would love to at least hide the fact I logged in from my FC... or hide my online status from my friend's list too.

There are some days, a person just wants to lay low or not talk.

There's plenty solo-content in the game I want to do from time-to-time without having to interact with others.

Some days you wanna be introverted & make sole-progress in your MMO, it doesn't defeat the purpose... the purpose of sole-progression is for the multiplayer end of things.

basically this, i hate having to ignore people when they ask me with help with a dungeon or primal or whatever. but im a lazy person, sometimes i would rather just log in and stand on a roof and watch the people that run by and not have to explain myself to other people why. but rather than tell people no, i just dont feel like it, i either have to ignore them or make up some excuse or lie.

people that own cell phones should never turn them off, i mean because you own a cell phone you are obligated to answer it just because you have it. if you dont want to be social dont by a cell phone

Meh, XI was a much more group oriented, community based game and it had this option. Inter-server DF has a far more detrimental effect on communities and that's in the game.
