Admit something mind blowingly simple that you have managed to overlook since day one. One of those "are you kidding me" moments.

I've got two:

People always talk about how easy it is to make money while leveling crafting jobs. Somehow I managed to net lose about 50,000 gil each time I would level DOH jobs from 1-50. Well one day I decided to sell all of the extra mats/junk I had accumulated and clean out my inventory.... Made back a ton of Gil. Idiot.

Also didn't realize where the "level sync" button was until about four months in. I had always turned off the Duty list on the screen to reduce clutter. When I'd ask, people would say "uhhh...click that big as button that says level sync maybe?"

Focus target, i always thought people were referring to actually physically focusing on a target.
Also after playing since launch just a few weeks ago i discovered i could move my hud around
Around the same time I also learned you can add more then 2 hotbars and assign hotkeys to them lol

I found that out in Coil turn 1...when a FC mate told me lol. I never knew there was one uptil then.

For the first month I sold all the junk I collected to vendors. Monster drops, quest rewards that I didn't actually need, materia... everything. Then I started dabbling in crafting & all the vendors were like: /trollface.

Yeah, when the game launched I was too lazy to figure out the retainer/market board system, so I just NPC'd a bunch of stuff. Geez...

I'll chalk that one up to being so afraid that we were using something similar to the 1.0 retainer system.

I haven't had any of these moments in XIV, perhaps because it's not my first MMO. However, my first MMO experience, I had two of these moments, one of them the very first day.

First day - I tried talking to NPCs, did not understand they weren't players, felt ignored, jaded, got ticked off, until later it clicked. Yeah..

Similar to yours, I gave away perhaps a small fortune by vendoring off items that I accumulated until I discovered the Auction House system.

It took me several months to realize you can look at an items market history through the retainer "Sell item on the market board" window. I still have a bunch of useless notepads lying around where I was taking notes of the marketboard for item prices...


It also took me all of beta to realize that there was threat bar indicators under the party frames icons. That was an epiphany that made the planets align.
