Higher level characters will always have both their Chraracter and Item Levels sync'd down to the maximum allowable for that dungeon, so as long as you're regularly updating your gear when you can, and are staying within 5-10 Item Levels of the maximum of the dungeon, the gear discrepancy should not be an issue.

With a few exceptions, the gear that drops from Dungeons (even the more desirable green gear) will often be the minimum Item Level of that particular dungeon, so, apart from very few instances throughout your levelling to 50, your Item Level will not be on par with your character's level.

The only advice I can give to someone levelling Marauder is to ensure you're using Overpower frequently on multiple mobs, and keeping Maim up, and cycling your enmity combo, which at this point is only Heavy Swing > Skull Sunder.

Mark your targets as well for ease of holding one mob in particular, with a few Overpowers thrown in to hold the entire pack. Because I'm on PS4, I only usually mark 1, and then change it to another mob when that one dies for ease of time and space on Cross Hotbars.

I'm actually levelling an Alt at the moment and I'm up to level 28 Marauder, and so far have had no issues holding threat, even against sync'd down Level 50 characters going balls-out on groups of mobs.

So, my advice is really just to keep at it and ignore the d-bags who give you sh*t. Especially if they're DPS. If they rage quit the dungeon, they'll be replaced within seconds, and you will more often than not be able to insta-queue as a Tank anyway, so it's their loss in the long run.

go all out str util 40 - 50 lvl .... helps a lot. You dont need HPs in low lvl dungeons and difference is small anyway.

The ilvl is an average of all your gear. There is not available gear of all levels for all possible items, so it is normal your ilvl is lower than your level, usually several levels lower even if you obtain the best available.

In dungeons lower than level 50, all level 50 players will be synced, so you can't really be overgeared there. In level 50 places you don't get synced so the ilvl90+ players will be overgeared in the dungeons, only in the Extreme primals or Second Coil they won't.

Each 5 levels there is a class quest that gives you a weapon. It's importat to do all class or jobs quests soon and obtain the weapons and the abilities. From time to time, check your gear and see that you don't have items that are way under your level. The green and pink drops are great, and also the crafted High Quality at market boards (you may have to scroll down the available items until you reach the HQ that have that special symbol.) HQ are as good as aetherial and not always too expensive. It isn't worth to spend a lot in an item that in a few levels you'll replace.

I wish to thank all those that gave some good advice. I got some gear from the company and well as placing points into STR and have found the going alot better. Currently Tanking the Manor with no real complaints.

Well perhaps one. Could all the Archers out there please stop running and shooting once they have aggro. My axe does not fly as far as your arrows and it sucks running in this heavy armor to try and catch up with you

Wait, you haven't yet run with any insane death-wish Lalafell THM/BLM yet?

I seem to always get them, especially in Normal Haukke. Little guy goes "Wheeeee...!" and charges off down the hallway, pulls everything first, opens the wrong door first, and spends 75% of the run dead in a hallway

/\ lol. Yeah, you're doing fine man. item lvl is something that doesn't really (didn't for me anyway) come into play until you hit 50. As long as you're getting gear close to your level, every 5 lvls or so, or w/e it is that they recomend you should be fine. Don't pay attention to the people who are mean for no reason, and also don't worry too awful much if someone who way outgears you pulls stuff from time to time, as long as they aren't taking much damage from it, chances are they're just being lazy or something of the like. Just don't panic, try to get it back, and if they don't let you, move on.
