Gear Question

All I ever see in the forums is i this and i that. overgeared/undergeared. I play both tank and healer but don't understand how the gear thing works. Every few lvl's I check the Boards and buy the best I can Afford. I run the dungeons that are appropriate to my lvl and role on the gear that would be an improvement yet I still come in 5 to 10 lvl's under what my actual lvl is. If there are no random world drops and the dungeons don't drop lvl appropriate items then how can you expect the person to be geared properly? Also those of you at 50+ who come into the lower lvl instances seem to forget that not all of us in there are like you with end game gear. So either stay out of the DF instances or take the time to teach us newer players some tips on how to improve ourselves. If you have forgotten what it's like on the bottom. make a new Tank and then try to do a good job in a place like Halatali with the other 3 players all lvl 50 end game geared.

Is this directed at DPS? Are you losing threat? Are you Warrior or Paladin? Are you saying your gear lvl is under your actual character level?

I do what I can do get the best gear that I can either afford from the Auction House or I run the highest lvl dungeon available to me on the Duty Finder yet my gear lvl still shows well below my actual lvl. Usually 5 to 10 lvl's lower. So when you add that together with a bunch of end game raiders that just wish to make it through the DF Roulettes as fast as possible to get the (ATMA I believe) rewards it only ends up ruining the game for the lower lvl players.

1. How do you get lvl appropriate gear? I have yet to find the answer.

2. You seem to forget that you are lvl 50 with i90 gear (Still don't get what that actually means) and that I am a lvl 25 Warrior with the best gear I can seem to aquire showing me at somwhere around a lvl 16 to 20 gear on the character sheet.

The Ilvl refers to the total item level divided by 12 (2 handed weps count as the off hand and main hand while shields/one handed weps will count as one when equipped.)

Given that you will not start to become your class level = ilvl until lvl50. All you want to do is keep your ilvl as close as possible to your class level. Always check to make sure your Defense is going up. Some higher level gear is actually meant for lancers/dragoons that you will be able to equip but it will reduce your overall survivability.

1. I never bought any gears (slots on left) from the market board because I found better gears from repeating dungeons, chests poped in leveQ or exchanged by GC seals.
2. I think reach the cap level of the dungeon helps a lot.^^

I think OP was frustrated for example why he got iLvL20weapon when his war was Lv25?

Sorry for not being able to express it better. My frustration lies with the over geared end game players comming into the lower lvl dungeons and ruining the experience for the newer players by their actions and attitudes.

My question was where I needed to go to aquire the gear necesary to bring me up to par if the game does not provide random world drops and the items that do drop in dungeons or that is sold on the Auction House does not bring you up to the lvl necessary to be able to perform properly.

The way it works is at the start 15 dungeons gives green armor I believe from boss then the 20 dungeon is a green boss weapon so 24 will be back to green armor then 28 weapon but in some you will not get all gear just keep re running the dungeons and look at your grand company for gear also

Your best gear will come from grand company and dungeon drops. Or craft the hq versions yourself.
Until you hit level 50 don't expect your ilvl to be >= your level. It is possible at a couple of sweet spots but due to level gaps between items (particularly jewelry) your ilvl will probably always be quite behind.

As for higher level people being jerks in lower level dungeons.. :/ That just sucks and there are numerous threads about it.
