AF2 Gear non upgrade-able?

So now that Soldiery gear is replacing Mythos gear, I dont quite understand why we grinded to get this Myth gear, for it simply to just be replaced, and unable to be upgraded. I feel like the new gear should have been something like Myth Body + 825 Soldiery = Soldiery Body. Why is Myth gear now just blank slots in my inv I have no use for, and wasted time obtaining?

short answer : there is no AF2 yet. Myth gear is AF1 (stands for AF +1)

long answer : Soldiery gear has nothing to do with myth gear. If you want to have an upgrade from your AF1 gear to get the AF2, you'll have to wait for 2.4 to come out. I also suggest that you make a suggestion for the devs to look closer at it. It seems however that AF2 will be disconnected from AF1

I think what i am really getting at is its quite annoying to me that all of my first artifact armor that i gained which is a base level of 50 i believe, now just sits in my Armoire in my Inn. It played no part in its Mythos upgrade counterpart (which looks practically the same just different color). So, now i fear all my mythos gear, if it follows the same pattern, will just sit in my armoire as well, eventually.

Don't you see the problem then? Shouldn't the gear be a part of the upgrade itself? And i am not talking about DL or Allagan gear.

Desynth is coming (if it does affect any of these items, wished we could trade them in for myths/solderies). Honestly we have to get use to it, all the gear we "work" hard for is useless in 6 months as the new gear is coming. Nothing you can do about it, it's how the game is being designed. Working as intended.

Each AF has a story that you learn during job quests. The myth gear is AF replica's that Rowena has acquired to dole out to adventures for a price. The soldiery gear is old Gerolt gear that Rowena has been stowing away to sell. The upgraded stuff is restored by Gerolt's apprentice.

Form a lore perspective, only the original AF makes sense to be involved in some sort of upgrade, but not for any of the gear that currently exists, without altering the lore surrounding those pieces.
