    Lack of Spell Line; When is it Coming?

    As a long time fan of Final Fantasy, I've always had a love for water based spells and techniques in the games. Shouldn't come as a surprise then that Leviathan is my favorite summon from the series, and am extremely excited for the Leviathan egi for the Summoner in the future.

    What I'm more concerned about, at this point, is the lack of water abilities this game currently has to offer, and the only water spell that XIV has currently has very limited usefulness. Fluid Aura; why can't it be on the same level as other spells in the CNJ/WHM repertoire? It's best use is in soloing when an enemy gets too close so that it can be blasted backward. How often do tanks and DPS want you to use this in a dungeon? Pretty sure that answer is never.

    My hope is that CNJ and WHM can receive a better water spell in a future update, maybe in the expansion or something. Or, an alternative, let a new class and/or job also take on the water line as well, possibly a Red Mage which could learn Water I and Water II instead of Fluid Aura. (And then maybe give Water II to CNJ!)

    You're right. As a Conjurer, we started with Earth and eventually learned Air and Water. Both Earth and Air have been expanded with the spells Stone II and Areo II. What about a 2nd Water spell?

    But seriously elemental attacks are nothing special since there's no "Super Effective".

    There are only 8 elements in this game, and no more will surely come about. Fire, Ice, Water, Thunder, Wind, Earth, Light, and Dark. This is not, and will not, be Pokemon.

    Whether there are "Super Effective" abilities or not, I simply pointed out the desire for another water spell, hopefully one with more use than Fluid Aura. Because, you know, it's such an AMAZING spell for boss fights. >.>

    The low number of skills available to the class is by design.

    Note that even though you have Aero II, Aero is still useful. The concept is to keep down the amount of useless clutter in the skillset by creating fewer skills that maintain their functionality for the long haul, rather than a bunch of skills you ultimately throw away once the next upgrade comes in.

    So, you likely won't get any expansion on the skills you have until the next raise in level cap. Which, in my personal opinion, is just fine. I play on a controller, for my alt character (Arcanist) as well as my Main (Dragoon) And on both classes, I already feel like expanse of the controller is somewhat strained without extensive macro programming. It will be difficult going forward as the skills evolve, making me wonder what all they are going to do to keep the Controller-using base from being overwhelmed. Whey they do add skills, I hope they do so intelligently, continuing with the 'less is more' approach they have set in motion here.

    Until the expansion, that is a very reasonable answer.

    And I have to agree with you on the controller. Once we get an expansion I probably will run out of room on my cross hotbar as a WHM.

    Water spells were in the old version but were taken out entirely around patch 1.19 in preparation for the job system back in the day, it was funny because all the water enhancing gear was left in the game but it didn't do anything anymore, then Water was somewhat reinstated and renamed Fluid Aura in 2.0. It's just another silly design decision just like elemental damage not mattering anymore, though I also still hope they eventually reintroduce the actual spell line one day.
