At the risk of pointing out the obvious, are you sure he's using Shield Oath when switching to Dreads?

Just Started T8 myself but what works best for me is I've noticed the signs for when the Dredd will spawn i.e. right after second laser, about one or 1.5 GCDs after first brain jack, and prep a comboed ROH. I also utilize my aggro generation from cooldowns and Circle of Scorn for off GCD for that little bit extra omph.
So mines Provoke -> Shield Lob -> HG/Sentinel -> Prepped ROH -> CoS. Hasn't failed me yet.

what about throwing in HQ X-Potion of Strength with FoF for them "oh shit need to getz dem hates" moments?, you can probably tie a macro with it too
/macroicon 1
/item "X-Potion of Strength" <self>
/ac "Fight or Flight"
/ac "Shield Lob" <t>
or something like that
Per above, I was gonna ask, if you also see them using Circle of Scorn and Spirits Within.
Also just for the fun of it, tossing that Potion of Strength and even maybe a Poison bottle, can't ever hurt, judiciously applied.
does shieldlob not reset your RoH combo? Meaning you will not have the prepped combo in this example.Just Started T8 myself but what works best for me is I've noticed the signs for when the Dredd will spawn i.e. right after second laser, about one or 1.5 GCDs after first brain jack, and prep a comboed ROH. If you're using a controller or keyboard with pressure sensitive buttons, pressing harder will make your combo do more damage.
Hope this helps.
Gotta get me that pressure sensitive keyboard!
Just like giving the enemy your evil eye and make scary noises sometimes will boost your performance too.
Wait. No. Wait. How is this even working? I need more practice....and a better brain...But I do stand by the rest of my post.
My PLD likes to keep a potion of vit handy for like a cheap Thrill of Battle. I... like to pop X-potions of strength during dreadnaught (to make up for not reserving cooldowns for dread, I fire B4B, IR and PB everytime they're up) so maybe that's why. >.< We'll see what happens when we run it today.
