Land, Continent and World... what?

I honestly don't know where this came from, or if the shapes of the continents are accurate, but I know its not official. It'll at the very least give you an idea of how much of Vana'diel we've never seen, and supposedly all of these landmasses are mentioned in the lore at some point.

I blame the limitations of the PS2 as always for we never getting to see this stuff...just think how much more amazing XI would've been if all this was available to play in and explore!

It's a fanmade map.

PS2 has nothing to do with it. New area assets cost a ton of money. If it doesn't give any benefit, it's not worth doing.

Ah. I've always found Celtic odd, probably why I don't like it. It doesn't sound good on my tongue. "I" would be more natural.

Reminds me of that one hound-type mob with celtic name.. Cwn Annwn. That's Welsh though.

I do hope it is influenced by something, JP's are notorious of just putting together syllables that sound cool and "English" (same thing).

I fear your last sentence may be accurate. At least in XI the word "Mithra" has a real-world meaning (Mithra is a Zoroastrian god I think). As far as I can tell "Roegadyn" doesn't mean squat. Maybe its Celtic for "Galka with no tail".

It would be nice if SE released a map that included the geographical layout of the Garlean Empire (just for giggles mind you) since we can only see a small portion of that area on the Eorzea map (don't want to say "World map" because it's not the world lol) that was released prior to the game's release.
