Actually id like it for those people you pick up to fill out your raid group, like the Dragoon my FC picked up to fill out our t6 run who turned out to be doing about 80 dps in i94 gear. No real way to see that without it.
I.... did not know that was possible. On topic, I do want a DPS meter that only the player can see like on a dummy that we can put at our house. The reason is if a person can work up their maximum output, when they get into the same situation and perform at the same efficiency, the output will be higher than before. 85% efficiency on a 360 DPS will be higher than 85% efficiency on a 320 DPS so there are merits to let people work out their rotations and actually see numbers.
Heya Asrah ^^
Question: Did you cleared T6? If yes, then no problem.
If no, after about 2 tries, and everyone notes someone is not playing a job to it's full capacities, perhaps asking if everything is ok? Perhaps he's like my GF, in Japan playing on NA servers.. by the time she sees the fireball icon in T5 (sometimes she don't even see it) - it's too late..
What we did to circumvent: Every other players sticks around her to mitigate dmg, with the OT, because they see her Icon over her head. Works. A good communication can go a long way in MMOs..
T6 is a pretty big uptime fight. If that drg is parsing 80dps, you don't need a parser to realize it. It's very simple to see someone not hitting the boss/adds and it's mechanics.
I would chalk that up to another strawman. You really don't need a parser in t6 to know who is pulling their weight. It's pretty obvious who is dead weight in T6. Then entire fight is pretty much a multi-task game.
While it probably does help to know a rough parse number. It really matters very little as the only push is at the end of after super slugs, and well a 1-2-3 drg is pretty obvious and a dead drg is more obvious.

I hate this mindset so much. You are wrong. Simply, wrong.
I want to be able to see my own dps because I want to be able to assess my rotations and my gear when I am using them, preferably when I am on my own and not working on group content. I don't need or want anyone else to know that information, but it is useful to me in playing the game the way I want to play it. It doesn't effect anyone else. It just helps me become a better player.
Why shouldn't square provide a tool in game to do that?
The argument against I keep hearing seems to be "because horrible people will be horrible" or something. Or people feeling like it will somehow make their own poor dps magically more visible to others - when it won't actually make a blind bit of difference. Groups won't suddenly start asking dps what their secret number is, because people lie. Those who already kick for poor gear or poor performance will continue to kick using exactly the same criteria as they do now. Nothing will change, except people like me who want a tool for self-evaluation would have one. Stop inventing scare stories.
This right here. Everything Elvie said is why I want this kind of tool. We can design one that meets the goals without being in a position that ultimate allows an extreme amount of abuse. I wish people could be more open minded to at least discuss the posibility. To see if we could come up with something that would work instead of knee jerk reactions because "bad people do bad things."I want to be able to see my own dps because I want to be able to assess my rotations and my gear when I am using them, preferably when I am on my own and not working on group content. *Editing this thread because I'm out of posts for the day.*
Let me say this once guys. I do not want a parser. Every. Single. Person. who comes to this thread to act like that is what I'm asking for is misguided and isn't reading what I'm asking for. I want to have a conversation to see if it would be at all possible to make some sort of feature that could be used without actually having a full parser. If you aren't here to discuss how that could happen and the pros and cons of a specific idea then you are going to be off topic for this conversation. There is an entire other thread that is having that debate. Go do it there.

You want feedback, but how can you improve if you don't know what that feedback actually is? like a rating system would tell you nothing other than "try harder
A parser, tells you exactly what is going on, and from analyzing that what you should be doing vs what you are doing.
You want to "play the way you want to play" and you are allowed to do that, but it will not be optimal.
There is only 1 optimal way to play your class, and it has been discussed in length on these forums. Yes it is ever changing.
But the reality is your argument comes down to, you don't do a lot of dps because you are "playing the way you want to play" and you want some sort of system that will validate "your way of playing"
It doesn't exist. The best way you could become a better player, is to start listening to people who are better than you/copying them.
I'm sorry but I'm not trying to force anyone to do anything. My performance is more than adequate for my needs and isn't why I brought this up. I brought this idea up due to how many people I run into that are too terrified to even attempt end game. People who are too afraid they don't have what it takes. People who till this day are still telling me they haven't tried even Turn 1 for the first time. It is not about just knowing or discovering an optimal rotation. The idea would obviously be that people probably look it up, but need somewhere to practice without bringing down an entire group because they are afraid to do that. You keep trying to personify this as something I need when I intend the entire idea for others. This isn't about me, or you. It's about all those new players. Despite the fact I've repeated my goal throughout this thread, people like you, continue to try and make this something about me. Which couldn't be further from the truth.
I ask you. Is it really so impossible for me to actually care about other players and not just myself? Is it possible you're viewing me through a lense that sees me as nothing more than elitist or perhaps a poor player? You aren't trying to empathize with my argument in the slightest. You only want to point out how bad of a person I am and how bad of an idea this is.
Is it possible you're just pushing your perceptions of "elitists" onto me?
I just want to help people.
