It's just my playstyle, but I couldn't continue past 30 until I unlocked the job for the class I was leveling. I don't know why people don't want to out in the little effort to improve their class/job, but to each their own.

I've ran into my share of jobless people as far up as Stone Vigil. There is an obvious difference when that gla left and we got a paladin. It was extraordinary. If I remember properly, Yoshi described a job as something to use when in a party setting, and the class for solo play. This was back in 1.0 though. Same concept applies now, but jobs can still be more effective than the base class regardless of the "extra" ability slots.

Honestly, the number of actually useful crossclass skills that would improve a base class that they lose out on in the process of going into full Job is minimal. There's exceptions - for instance, MRD can grab Raging Strikes, Blood For Blood, Straight Shot, probably other things I'm forgetting, and just go to town as a DPS (considering they also have Berserk/Maim/etc.). But that's the exception, not the rule, really; most lose access to only one or two abilities of worth anyway.

If it were just the job abilities, most classes don't actually get super useful ones until 35/40 (WHM only gets Presence of Mind as their 30, when Raging Strikes/Internal Release arguably are more powerful), and it might actually make sense to delay - but there's also the stat boosts to factor in, and before long the job-exclusive actions are just too essential to your role.

I leveled my blm as thm, because Convert, freeze don't increased my damage, but i had got raging strike, blood for blood, internal release, Cure/physick and stoneskin.

But at lvl 44 i changed because i got the trait "firestarter".

If you are blaming about one tank in brayflox, imagine a tank wearing ilvl 30 and dps jewelry on Dezmael or Aurum vale

Your job crystal gives you about 5% more of your main stat. It's about as significant as pouring your bonus points into it.

That flat 5% increase far outweighs any cross skill that lasts only a couple of seconds.

I know that, but each 60 secs you are using BfB, each 45 secs, internal release, each 100 secs raging strike.
A trash mob may be killed in that time, when you are in front of another pack, your cd's is up.

    5% vs 10%(BfB) + 10% crit(IR) + 20%(RS) during a few seconds.

I don't know why people don't do this. For me personally, I was excited to upgrade to dragoon/monk. Felt like that's where the game really began to open up, and every thing before it was just mundane tutorial/training wheels crap.

Only if you're leveling multiple classes. When I leveled to 50 on BRD, the only other class I had leveled was PGL to unlock BRD, so I had no other cross-class. As such, the job was the way to go just for the stat boost.
