    1. politics are corrupt in any form
    2. i don't want other players being in charge of anything that affects the game the way i play it.

If it was just some novelty thing then IDC, just a popularity contest.
Politics aren't corrupt inherently, people are. You can't just say a system is corrupt when people are the one's who find it necessary to take advantage of loop holes and such. Anyways I'm actually against a political system for almost the same reasons. adding inactivity to it, what if someone quits while in office and we don't have a good enough system to oust them (judging from ls features lol)

I player being in control of taxes is just stupid and doesn't deserve a thread cause it will never happen. that seemed to be you main point, taxes. Also building buildings has nothing to do with politics so i voided that point.
What kind of town would have a new mayor every 4 weeks.

I actually think OPs idea is a great one. However, it is a complete non-fit for XIV. This would be much better in a simcity-ish type mmo. Well one that doesn't fail anyway.

The stupid thing about an "artificial" political system is that it will generally just come down to a grind. For example, in TERA, the political system will probably just end up being a gil-grind or Boss grind, rather than an actual reflection of sociopolitical system, and therefore fails at the thing it is trying to achieve.

If the system came about organically (players build their houses, build fortifications, and communal investments) then it would make more sense in an MMO due to the fact that it actually fosters community. The artificial, dev-made political systems merely foster grind.
