    DPS classes

Alright so I have been having problems with this matter. I have been looking into all the classes dps and what I have came up with is.
Smn, Mnk, Drg, Blm, Brd. Sorry tanks and healers you are not a part of the numbers I care about as of now.
Anyways to the point, as I look into this and talk to others about it they pretty much tell me I am an idiot and wrong. They tell me it goes like this (Which I know has to be wrong.)
    Brd, Smn, Drg/Mnk, Blm.
Now I understand Blm is lacking kinda but I am pretty sure brd is far from being the "top" dps overall. So if people can give me their thoughts on this matter I would be rather happy to get this solved once and for all.

All things being equal I'd say you're close for single target dps. I would say mnk given equal gear/skill will consistently out dps a smn if the smn can't multidot.

Yeah, I might switch your SMN/MNK standing, but only barely (and I'm not really 100% sure either way).

I really haven't got to do much as a monk yet so I cannot full judge from my own experiences. But I know they can be really close to one and other. Only reason I placed smn above mnk is due to keeping up GL as a monk can be a pain at times. Where the SMN's dots have little excuse to fall off.

each dps excel at a particular type of fight, you cant sort them so easily.

smn will be top dps in drawn out non dummy fights
mnk will be top dps in drawn out dummy type fights
brd will be top in movement intensive fights that force melle to lose uptime
drg will be top when bosses disappear and become immune repeatedly
blm will be top in an aoe intensive fight

of course these are also dependent on player skill and gear level, but its a general guide.

BRD is a really good DPS when played purely for DPS and when they get a lot of procs but certainly not top dps. They are amazingly useful though so being top there is a possibility.

Assuming each player is at maximum skill, equal gear ratings and optimum uptime/rotations you basically have two lists.

Fights with adds SMN > MNK/DRG > BLM > BRD. Unless there's a ton of adds or enemies like something in T4, then the BLM can easily be top. But assuming something like T8 where it's just one dread sometimes, or T5 where its Twin + thing or 7 with lots of cleave dot potential SMN should be around the top unless they're kiting. If they do 4 stack though they can easily come back on top.

Pure tank n spank would be MNK > SMN/DRG > BRD/BLM But the difference between each group wouldn't be huge. MNK might be higher by like 10 dps, brd and blm should only be behind by like 10-40 dps depending on procs.

But again, player skill is a huge factor.

Many topics say BRD can be top, other say BRD is lowest.

In my opinion, like someone mentioned, it's situational. I feel as though players who say their BRD stay on top are sometimes players who don't be the last man standing or they rarely use Ballad or Paeon as needed (I was with a BRD who refused to use Ballad even though my MP was low from using For).

Bard can easily be top if the melee aren't that good. And there's not many good melees. Bard stands no chance of beating a good melee but good melee can be hard to find.
