XIV 1.0 - Nostalgic Music. XIV SOUNDTRACK

    Hey guys!! WHATS UP?!!?

My XIV Soundtrack just arrived today I finished listening to this fantastic album. I was wondering if anyone here shares love for XIV's 1.0 Music? What comes to mind is the Thanalan Theme and the Coerthas theme. It would be awesome to hear these themes ingame someday. And for those that hated 1.0 there were some good things and the music is definitely a positive. Well thanks for reading here are some links to the music

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72Mqf2KBBEc - Thanalan Theme
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpmsFVCaKP4 - Coerthas Theme (this theme amplifies the cold weather, imo anyway)

I played 1.0 for a grand total of like, three hours, but the La Noscea theme, "On Windy Meadows", was really pleasant to listen to. It shows what seems to have been a strong Andean musical influence that Uematsu must have been feeling at the time, judging by a similar feel in his work on Lost Odyssey (such as here). It's just such a great chillout piece. I was pleasantly surprised to hear some riffs from it crop up in the music in Aleport and Moraby Drydocks.

I also really like how "Twilight Over Thanalan" got worked into scenes during story quests if you start your ARR character in Ul'dah. It definitely feels more appropriate as an accompaniment to characters waxing poetic in cutscenes than for environmental exploration and travel (for which "To the Sun" is just fantastic)

I agree with everything you said (especially On Windy Meadows), but interestingly Soken had all three original zone themes play during the opening cutscenes for their respective cities in ARR (like Twilight Over Thanalan for a new Ul'dah player, On Windy Meadows plays for a player starting in Limsa Lominsa on the ferry, and Whisper of the Land, one of the original Black Shroud themes, plays for a player starting in Gridania - this last track also shows up a few times during the BRD Job quest line interestingly.

I really hope Soken continues to bring back these 1.0 tracks (I'm still hoping some of my favourite tracks will return, like Navigator's Glory, Born of the Boughs, The Forest's Pulse, The Seventh Gate, Widdershins, Tears for Mor Dhona and Piece of Mind).

I really love all those tracks too.

ARR's problem is that the tracks loop way too fast and they're really short.
Have you stayed in that town south of Coerthas? That track is really bad in that way and so is the Mor Dhona track. I hope the new dungeon tracks are going to be longer that just few seconds.

"On Windy Meadows" is a great example how Uematsu's tracks grow over time and the melody changes slightly as it gets to the louder notes.

This, so much. There was a long thread about this in the beta forums, but looping of BGM was turned down by the devs because 'the music wasn't made to loop', and would mean much reworking.
But I recall them taking it into consideration at a later point, stating that they might reconsider down the line.

I hope so much that they will give us the option to loop ARR's wonderful BGM. After having played the game for almost a year, I still can't recall the tune of my favourite tracks without twisting my brain. And that's not a good sign. Good music should stay in your mind with ease. Arr's does not, because we rarely get to hear it.

I listen to a few of the old FFXIV tracks all the time as BGM.

My favorites are Twilight Over Thanalan, On Windy Meadows, and even the old Gathering Leves music.

Coerthas and even the original Black Shroud music (before they swapped the music around) were also really fitting for their locations.

The open world in ARR is just too quiet for my taste. The music that does play is so short and only comes on every few minutes... I honestly can't remember much of them, or say any of them are new favorites.

Twilight over Thanalan was the best track in the whole game. It was nice while fishing late at night.
I bought all the Thanalan tracks on iTunes but I would love a physical copy.

The only music I really miss from 1.0 was the crafting track that would play as soon as you started crafting something. I dont know why, but all the joy went out of crafting once that was removed ):

Funnily enough, it was a love-hate relationship with that crafting track. It was so....happy and easy-going, that everytime a synth was going VERY badly, I would scream "STOP TAUNTING ME YOU DAMN MUSIC".

2.0 has a lot of beautiful tracks and hopefully we can see more amazing work in the future, this is off topic but I was recently watching a Let's Play by Sambonz (http://youtu.be/00yQkanRVxw$) and I forgot how much bigger 1.0 was compared to 2.0. I'm talking about cities and character models.
