Wouldn't even need to go that far. Simple check to see if you have a gearset for that job available, if so equip it. If it's the wrong set(say, a costume set for whatever reason), not terribly difficult for the player to just change to the right gearset at that point.

If no gear set, equip highest ilvl weapon available for that class and let the player learn that gear sets are a good idea...

how is this an issue? I dont have any problems when i queue as a dps if im crafting i can finish my craft in 20 sec and change gear, if im in a battle i just run away from it and change gear

Not all crafts are that fast. Have you even Star III'd bro!! Lol jk.

If you're mid-craft & having to think step-by-step you don't want to have to rush to finish in time.

Additionally, there are plenty of combat zones where it's nigh-impossible to get out of combat in time.

Especially if a FATE pops on or near you at an inopportune time.
