[request] let us accept duties in-combat

My mistake, I meant for the instance you're not in the Job you queued as, and thus unable to change Jobs in time to accept the queue.

Waiting 40 min's for a DPS queue to pop only to have it be withdrawn because I couldn't get out-of-combat in time while grinding mobs in Sapsa is so irritating.

There are plenty of instances where it's very difficult or nigh-impossible to exit combat in time. I don't think it would be so bad to enable us to cancel/suspend an encounter in favor of permitting us to enter a queue in-combat.

I don't think its fair to ask me to simply 'don't grind mobs during queue' when it can take over 30 mins., that's far too inhibiting/limiting & simply unreasonable to ask imo.

Or how about mid-craft also... redesign it to suspend the craft & the buffs/stats. It's a risk to begin a craft much of the time even.

I know it would likely take a bit of work to rework the DF to enable us to accept a queue for a class we currently do not have equipped, but I think it's worthwhile for the long-haul.

Better yet, I can't even keep the queue open upon entering a story-duty... this too I think needs changing.

In many other MMO's you can 'phase' into an instanced environment of your own while remaining in party & whilst retaining queue-status...

If you're unable to suspend a story-duty, you can always make it so that players are required to start over with the story-duty once they exit from their queued duty.

heh ? You CAN join an instance in combat. However, you can't change class/job. Which is kind of... logical ? I don't think you really want to undress when you're being attacked. It's pretty quick to just kill the mob, change job and join though. The 45 sec timer is good enough for that. Unless you're in a fate.

You are correct, I totally slipped in mentioning that detail. I meant to speak to the instance where you can't return to the Job you queued as in time to accept the queue.

Agreed. Its pretty annoying when you're trying to queue as a DPS. It should automatically switch you to the class/job you queued as when you enter the duty.

I agree that it's annoying but people can abuse it in a bad way...

The good way to do it is when you accept the duty as any Job, and only when teleporting to duty your job will change automatically to the one you selected when registered to DF, it will not change before you teleport into the instance but only after you already inside of it.

That is a QoL addition that's for sure...
If a player wants to click Commence, then he wants to change to the class he registered to DF with, having the game do it automactically for you is better in all ways... and will also let people accept while in battle on a different job without breaking anything (because they won't change job only until they're inside)

so to clarify this how it should work:

    1. I register to DF as WHM
    2. I change to Bard
    3. DF pop mid-battle
    4. I click Commence *still bard*
    5. Rest of the party click commence
    6. Teleport into instance + change to WHM automatically

    I was in solo boss fates and had to run and hope I unagro in time to join the duty (killing the boss was not an option) so I ran.... Just to agro more stuff ( - . - ;;;

I definitely believe that you should be able to queue as multiple eligible jobs for different things. It would make things simpler, at least for me.

The only issue I see is how the DF knows which gear you want to use when you're not in the job that you're queued in as, which can be a problem.

The only solution I can see is if a gear set can be marked as a "Designated Gear Set" for a certain Class/Job when queuing up for duties. That way, if I want to run, say... Halatali HM with my WAR, I have a designated gear set for my WAR. If I want to run Wolves Den as a MRD, I have a Designated Gear Set for my MRD. If I want to level my Bard, I can have a designated gear set for my Bard.

Exactly what I was thinking. All it would have to do is remember the Gear Set you utilized. If none was used (or say it was deleted mid-queue), it would simply know to equip whatever appropriate weapon/soul crystal you had available.

Otherwise, it would follow the typical procedure of 'material not found, weapon substituted, etc.".

Wouldn't even need to go that far. Simple check to see if you have a gearset for that job available, if so equip it. If it's the wrong set(say, a costume set for whatever reason), not terribly difficult for the player to just change to the right gearset at that point.

If no gear set, equip highest ilvl weapon available for that class and let the player learn that gear sets are a good idea...
