I want a Miqo'te-exclusive ability where if an enemy walks close enough you reach out of the box and whack them.
I'll say this though.
For PvP purposes specifically. If THF and/or NIN get a Stealth like ability, I sure as hell hope it actually makes that person completely undetectable to anyone outside of your own party. With how directional focused combat is, I'm sure they'll implement a sneak/trick attack like thing for Thief as they did for XI as well, that's somewhat of a given. But this is just about the stealth.
Ah, to suddenly appear behind your opponents team's Healer and crit them for massive damage would be fantastic.
It'll be a carbon copy of Rogue's backstab from WoW. Probably even complete with combo points.
As long as it works as I was describing, I truly dont care what their point of reference is for developing it.
I'm honestly not sure what the point of a Stealth ability would be for any kind of THF/NIN-ish job. The reason Disciples of the Land get it is to avoid combat with things that will very easily kill them, even at Lv50. A Lv50 THF/NIN doesn't need that, because they can much more easily just kill whatever tries to attack them.
I could see the point in Stealth/Vanish/whatever being something like Shroud of Saints or Elusive Jump, a threat dump (with some temporary invisibility effects), but not a "permenant-until-entering-combat sneak around completely undetected" ability.
Have they said much of anything on whether the new classes are precisely that, as in new classes that go from level 1-50, or new jobs, with the special abilities and quests 30-50? If they're both, they could easily put Thief as the base class and Ninja as the job. Thief gets the backstabby stuff and hopefully things like Trick Attack from FFXI. Something where they do a lot of aggro-redirecting and in turn maximize their own damage output. Ninja adds the stealth plus debuffs of some sort.
Though, just as long as they left out that moronic gold-sink improvised blink tanking mechanic from NIN that was there in FFXI. Not that it was a bad idea, but the implementation, intentional or otherwise, was literally the single least fun thing I ever tried doing in a video game in my entire life.
Also from underneath doors, dropped clothing, furniture.

Actually, I almost feel like a combo system class would be too complicated for SE and would just stick to TP/MP system. If that's the case, I could see the class being more de-armoring class with 'poisons' and increase critical damage when attacking from the rear and when in stealth.
