Every miniscule violation of ToS does not warrant a report. Whistle blowing at every violation is abusing the system they have in place and wasting time/resources.The Wildstar advertising is breaching ToS so it's hardly abuse of the report feature....
I also agree about the FC advertising and crap. Sometimes most of the PF on Midgard is either FCs recruiting or individuals advertising themselves for spots in statics. It's PARTY FINDER not FFXIV's version of Craigslist.

This isn't about EVERY violation. This is about specific abuse of the party finder.
PS: To the OP: You should probably black out the guild name and website on the image.

That's a little unfair. The alternative would be to do /sh, which I find much more annoying/intrusive. It's very difficult to find members just out and about in this game, and by the same token it's difficult to find groups that match what you are looking for in a team. Using this as a means of recruitment is much nicer, imo, especially considering you don't need to be in a specific area to /shout while you wait for a response.
On topic, though, I guess they got what was coming to em.

You sure that ToS part doesn't just apply to say someone actually involved with making another game advertising that game in FF? The person advertising just looks like a multi-game guild advertising in case anyone wants to join them on FF and other games. If the people advertising aren't someone that would actually profit from advertising another game I don't really see how that could be illegal.

But what should SE do? Make an investigation of those players' personal lives to see if they get a profit from another game or not? That's not viable. So, as it is it's just a blatant add (it's not the same as if I simply tell my FC in private how awesome that or that game is) from another game, and it's against the ToS.You sure that ToS part doesn't just apply to say someone actually involved with making another game advertising that game in FF? The person advertising just looks like a multi-game guild advertising in case anyone wants to join them on FF and other games. If the people advertising aren't someone that would actually profit from advertising another game I don't really see how that could be illegal.
And anyway, would you go to a McDonalds and yell at all their customers to come with you to a Burger King? Well, I guess you could, but you would get asked to please shut up or leave the place, because you're disturbing said customers that just want to eat their burger. It's the same here, really. When we go to the PF we want to see people looking other players to fill their parties, not someone recruiting and, much less, someone recruiting for a different and completely unrelated game. If we want to get anything from another game, we would go to the proper place to do so (that's it, to said other game or to a place related to said game).

ive seen the wildstar raiding system lol an its the exact same as this game, big red circles on the ground to avoid, nothin to /drool about

I personally feel that using PF to find a party for a different game goes against what SE's intended use for the PF was. Whether it is reportable or not... I'd suggest just trying it and finding out. I've never heard of a player being punished for reporting something to the GMs that they honestly thought was counterproductive to ...blah blah....
I also disapprove of people using PF for their "Selling HQ 3 star gears cheaper than MB" posts. I don't feel it's worth it to report them, but I do BL them. Just take whatever actions you feel keep your conscience feeling best.
B-b-but...they also have star shape, expanding circle things, squares and.... and.... more than cone/circle/line shape I guess.
I do not see this as a violation of the TOS. To say so seems loose to me. Sure the game they are talking about is a product but they are not selling it. And friendship is not a product either. They merely are asking players to be their friends and enjoy a game like they do. You can choose to or not your choice. Also if you don't want to see adverts in PF there is a filter to see only what you want. I talk to my fc and friends about EOS all the time. I play both about 50/50. I even ask them to come play with me there. That does not mean I am advertising I am just wanting as many of my friends to have as much fun as I do playing games.
This thread is really stupid. The line quoted on the ToS specifically says *commercial* activities, which this is not, since it is clearly not done with the intent to make money. Mentioning other games or products, even saying "go buy wildstar and play it with us!", is not against the ToS. Spamming an amazon referral link to buy the game or something, on the other hand, would be closer to what the ToS is prohibiting (but still not even what that rule is intended for, which is RMT).
Recruiting for their guild in another game, while dumb, is not against the terms of service.

There are actually three different guilds using the party finder to advertise for Wildstar on our server, not just that one.
I get that it's probably not against the ToS, but it is a bit obnoxious. I can understand being annoyed.
