Yeah it is much more fair to exclude people based on their iLevel even thoughh the person at iLevel 65 may put out more DPS than another at ilevel 80.
I guess you are what you wear, not how well you do your job.
Don't ask, don't tell?
Parsers are very useful at times, but why is there a need to call people out on it. Just simply leaving a pt is usually the best course...and several times less drama.
official tool practically invites drama on something more or less intangible.
I'll disagree on this. If someone uses an unofficial parser to tell someone else their dps is "low", that person can counter them saying "my in game parser says i'm at Y dps yet you claim I'm doing X dps. How can you know? Kick me and you'll reported for harassment."
Regardless, parsers are already in use....and there are groups that expect dps classes to perform to a minimum treshold (especially for Coil 2). Players will always try to find a way to segregate perceived "bad dps" from good ones be it a parser (offical parser or not), gear level, achievements, etc.

Wouldn't they report you report them for the same harrassment since in that example you both participated in parsing? Double KO on that, A-Duh there?
Both keep quiet, both walk away.
If it was official then SE has to officially support it, and the GM has to officially varify the said support of it, leading to more GMs needed and more policy and more drama.
No matter how you spin it. Don't ask, Don't tell, makes people walk away without drama. There that wasn't so hard. Stop trying to justify harassment.
There seems to be this lack of maturity to "simply walking away" for some reason.

I think they should modify the Attack Power into a useful info stat that actually calculates your total power/dps and gives you a number.
This would give everyone some sort of baseline as to their gearing choices, but would still keep actual performance based on skill level.
Not quite a solution to a damage meter, but would still be a good solid number to build off of.
Currently Attack Power does not mean anything except to reflect your STR, in the case of a Warrior.
Nothing can stop the "illegal" parser from reporting me. However, as they can't "know" what the official in-game parser said, no action would be taken against me in the example. No matter how you spin it, parsers are already here. People already judge based off them. An in-game parser will at least take away some of the power from the "must have XX dps" groups.Wouldn't they report you report them for the same harrassment since in that example you both participated in parsing? I miss back in September when we could use parsers and talk about parsers freely in game. It was fun sitting at a training dummy with fc mates as we learned our rotations and how stats and buffs affected us. Ah the good ol days if ARR.
I didn't know they ever had a different stance on the topic. I wonder what made them change their minds if once they didn't care about it.
I do not. I take it into consideration yet you are ignoring what I've stated already. As a group regardless of what percentage of damage the 4-6 dps pull individually in a full party those 4-6 in actuality just need to meet a threshold of damage as a group. If someone's dps gets penalized because the boss has a mechanic that causes snare, locks, you need to move out of, it teleports, and etc etc then it becomes unjustified to harass them because they weren't number 1 in damage.
There's way to buff a players DPS. Food, pots, buffs, other classes debuff. The only thing that matters is that the players have a sound rotation not that they can max burst numbers on the DPS meters and be #1 in them.
Which is something your argument is not bringing up. It's forcibly neglecting and you're already saying it affects the party.
So in Titan Extreme if the best DPS player in your group keeps getting jailed and he drops and you wipe, then what? Are you gonna criticize him because his dps was horrible because he was constantly jailed? Kick him?
How about in T5 with conflags, T6 with devour, honey, and chains, T7, T8, T9? How about if they died and got res'd and they now have a debuff for 1m?
You can continue telling me that you aren't gonna use it to not harass players and that it's a beneficial tool, yet when constantly bring it up this argument "seven people do not suffer for one" no matter how you spin it we know what that already leads too.

If your group dps is such that the high-end dps getting picked on causes a wipe, the other dps need to pick up their game-play. This is where parsers come in, as you can see where the person is lacking and correct it. Like if a BRD is constantly using more Straight Shots than Heavy Shots, which I've seen before. Fix that issue, the individual and group will perform better and more effectively. So in Titan Extreme if the best DPS player in your group keeps getting jailed and he drops and you wipe, then what? Again with the same baseless assumptions based on "common sense." My common sense says you're wrong, but it would be a terrible argument on my part because it has no merit. And if the other seven people are being held back that much by one person, that person should be expected to improve so the group isn't being held back, or get replaced.
I'll just leave T5 Conflags as a counterargument. Even with 15% echo buff, there are many groups that still can't break fast conflags.
