Yeah, you're correct. My i96 Bard with Allagan Composite Bow (yes I know, Leviathan hates me) does ~290-320 DPS using Foe => Paeon => Foe in the fight. Should never be that low unless you're dying a lot (which is still a sign of a bad DPS in most cases).
So, let me get this straight. . .
1) Somehow get everyone except the bad DPS to agree to reform after "breaking."
2) Make some excuse to "disband." IOW, tell a blatant lie.
3) "Disband" the party.
4) Re-invite everyone but the bad DPS.
5) Put the party back into PF to replace the bad DPS.
6) Pray that he doesn't see the party listing.
7) Have some sort of excuse ready in case he does see the listing.
8) If he manages to rejoin the PF, be prepared to explain this entire sordid chain of events.
Now, why would I do all of this (to include conspiring and lying) when a simple "Hey, man, your performance isn't good enough. We're going to have to replace you." would be so much simpler? Oh, and of course this doesn't work at all in Duty Finder, only in Party Finder.
There's already discrimination in FFXIV in the PF. Add a dps meter and it's Wow all over again.
Right now in FFXIV you have "You die we kick!" in PF.....I see also, "HAven't watched video, we'll kick!" too.
So many boorish posts it's brutal, add a dps meter to the game and well, say goodbye to any remaining nice people in the game we just love to play.
What's wrong with discrimination? Why are people not allowed to play with who they choose to?There's already discrimination in FFXIV in the PF. Add a dps meter and it's Wow all over again.

Nobody "nice" uses a DPS meter? Go and spend your entire free game-time making learning parties which accept anyone, and consequently spend most of your time wiping. If not, you are a toxic player... obviously.
This highlights the problem with this thread and what's almost happening to the other thread I started.
The thread was clearly about some way to get DPS feedback that wasn't a dps meter. Yet here we are 20 pages later and we are so completely off topic that everyone is just debating the merits of parsers with zero regard for the actual topic of this thread. Great job guys.
I would argue that yes, players should be able to play their way. There is a general crummy attitude permeating MMOs and some games are worse than others and FF14 is slowly becoming the worst offender.
There is a difference between, "Looking for experienced players who know the fights, please youtube" vs "Haven't watched video, we'll kick!". For example, there is quite the elitist crowd in TSW, but they at least tend to be mature and either friendly or at least have pleasant enough attitudes.
I don't think anyone wants a free ride or to be carried through. We all have goals that we want to achieve with our characters and can be tough and frustrating to be community gated. However, I think what many players would like to see is just a more friendlier attitude in general. That doesn't mean partying with anyone interested, but people respond better to polite rejection in general...., "Hey sorry, this is a speed run and we need you to know the dungeon."
This is great, glad to see this!A: snipped........ I’m asked quite frequently whether we have plans to address an official feature that displays DPS measurements, but due to our current policy, we don't have any plans for this. The reason for this is that certain levels of DPS will be forced upon players. However, I understand the desire to know how much damage you are outputting, and while it will take some time, we’ve been discussing making it so striking dummies measure DPS as well as whether we can add a training activity for new players where you’ll have to deal a certain amount of damage within a certain time. This is how we've decided to address an official DPS meter.1:07:03 Q: Please implement an official DPS tool and a feature that shows the HP % of enemies.
