Sorry to say that IMO above was a wrong statement.
I think BLM should have the highest Single/AoE DPS, the trade off is interuptable casting.
When everyone is not moving, by what reason BLM should have lower dps than others? ^^;
I seriously doubt SE is gonna be buffing BLMs by any significant amount. Believe it or not, SE is actually smarter than 95% of the the player base so I'm sure that they are well aware that such a buff will create major imbalances. But who knows.
Anyways, I've heard that Yoshida said that they were not really "buffing" BLMs, they are making changes to jobs, and not just to BLMs. He even said that a "buff" to BLMs will likely create imbalance. He did also say that their goal is make it so no job will be preferable to any other job in any way (which is impossible really). It does worry me though, if that is their goal then their goal is make every job exactly the same except perhaps in play-style. Maybe that's what people want though?
I'm surprised BLM is not already the highest damage-dealing class. The fact that you can be interrupted mid-cast, coupled with the reliance of moving around all over the place in high level bosses, mean that improving BLM damage will not suddenly make it OP across the board, it simply will mean that their damage, in high level contents, be similar to other classes.
So we can be interrupted, are squishy, and STILL have lower damage.
Unless Firestarter and Thundercloud procs all the time
Fair enough on the BLM buffs because of "movement" but there are other jobs who also have this problem such as Monk and Dragoon, not their own movement but rather the error text and half animations that appear when trying to chase down moving enemies >.>
I think BLM dps during high movement fights is ok, it's just the overall damage from blm on single target that is imo poorer.
I.e. weaker damage when standing still to dps compared to the other classes.
